Headaches - panicing

Good evening,

I havent ever posted on general health before, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

I know better than to self diagnose over the internet, really I do

For the past few days I've had a weird headache. It started with a clicky neck and spread upwards to behind my left eye. It feels like a burning pressure. It's not horrenously painful, just irritating and it's worse when I look at the computer screen. It's now hung around for three days, spreading over the other side of my head and neck. It feels almost like the headache I get after migraine (like a residual headache) but it's causing me to panic.

Theres a lot of stress going on in my life right now, issues with my partner, I've been made redundant but still working my time out, possible relocation to france, other relationship problems. Could the headache be down to stress? Could it possibly be because I've stopped taking my pill after running four packs? Or could it be a tumour?

I'm scared and I know it's extrememly silly to over react like this, but everything is getting on top of me and I really just want some reassurance

Its not a tumour!

It sounds very much like the tension headaches that I get. Mine also start with a stiff/achey neck. I also get it in one eye.

You do say as well that you have a lot of stress in your life so it all does fit really.

Please try not to worry! xx

I had a weird headache few weeks ago. It started sort of on one side, but more in front and then behind my left eye. Actually when I moved my eye around it hurt. It went away after 4 or 5 days. I think it was caused either by stress or too much reading and time in front of the screen.
I never ever get headaches, so when I do very occasionally ( like once every year) get one, I'm prone to panicking.
If it doesn't go away in a week, you could go and see your GP, but headaches generally are mysterious things and unexplicable.
I would say stress.

I've had several family members and friends suffer from brain tumours and not one of them had your symptoms.I'm not going to list their symptoms, because that won't be helpful, but they were nothing at all like yours. They do sound like stress/tension headaches, especially as you mention that they spread from your neck.

I hope you feel better soon.

How's your jaw/neck? I ask because I've been suffering from tension too which can affect anywhere from shoulder to scalp, but recently it's really settled in my jaw which has been aching like buggery. Could be another marker for tension as an explanation.

I understand what you're saying about the headache after a migraine, kind like it's smouldering after a short circuit is the way I describe it! Also get that at mo.

Wow, thank you so, so much, all of you. I am constantly surprised by the level of understand and resassurance around here, I feel so much better having read these responses, especially yours, 101dalmations

It does kind of ache in my neck and jaw aswell. When I was pregnant I was signed off work for a short while> I learnt some relxation massages and ways to release tension in my head but the same things don't seem to be working now.

Thank you, anyway. I might try one of those migralieve strips they tend to help.
