or possibly your legs aren't aligned properly"
That's what my new GP said today when I told him about my Fibromyalgia. He then went on to say "I don't know why you were referred to a rheumatologist, as they can't really diagnose it, becasue, well it doesn't exsist" . I left the place feeling worse than when I went in. he wouldn't give me any more amitryptiline either as "if your not depressed, then there's no need to take it really, and saying you were given it for sleep.well you must be sleeping properly now"

on your behalf. My sister had fibro and has had similar nightmares finding a GP who actually believes it exists. She had one tell her it was perfectly normal for a 25 year old to be in huge amounts of pain climbing the stairs. Twunts.

"Had"? "Has" obviously since she is still very much alive and fibro doesn't just go away.

I have rescheduled an appointment with teh SMO (I live on a military base) next weel. I was so upset when i came out I didn't even respond to him. He looked at my legs - which were fine, as I didn't have a flare up today - and he was poking them saying "well is that sore". Then he weighed me and I am 91kgs and 6ft tall and he said "of course you are clinically obese, which is probably not helping your unaligned legs, so if you get down to about 70kgs you will find that the pain goes away".

See a different GP. Your new one is an idiot.

Hope the next appointment goes better.

IWe got the move on the grounds that I have Fibro FFS. I had hoped that the RAF docs wowuld be better - and I will see next week - than the civilian ones I had dealings with in hampshire. This was a civilian GP who works at the med centre. He asked me "so what symptoms do you get?"I started by telling him about the pain and that's when he started, I decided then that i wasn't going to mention all the other symptoms - numbness and pins and needles, an inability to walk sometimes, blurred vision, etc etc. He also kept saying "are you listening to me?" in a really patronising way
