I would go to the GP and get these issues further investigated.

It could be due to both PCOS (the problems with losing weight) and the coil (bleeding, headaches, the other symptoms you mention).

If the GP is unhelpful and or clueless (PCOS is not actually a problem that a GP should be trying to treat) then I would ask for a referral to a gynae.

Hi I have had a referral to a gynie and I saw 2 as I asked for a second opinion I even made myself an appointment at a well women clinic and all I was given from the 3 of them was a diagnosis of PCOS and a leaflet for the coil.

One potential side effect of the Mirena is ovarian cysts.

Why on Earth would they put one of these in a person who has a condition in which her ovaries are cystic?

bargainhuntingbetty · 19/02/2010 10:50

I am beginning to wonder why they give them to people full stop. Am seriously consider having it removed although am not sure what I would do for contraception then.

I have the mirena coil and it was recommended to me by my gynie as it would help with the symptoms of pcos. And it has.

I would get checked for an infection actually, the erratic bleeding and back pain could be a symptom of that.

Or alternatively the coil may not suit you.

Headaches and not sleeping could be a myriad of things, stress, neck problems can lead to headaches, poor posture, a crappy mattress and so on.
They are not necessarily anything to do with the coil or pcos.

Also, you don't always have cysts with pcos. It is a misnomer.

Hiya

I dont actually have the cycst just 'lots of folicles'. I have battled with this crappy bleeding for about 18 months now and it is getting me down. I thought the coil would illiminate the problem but no, a year on and I still have it.

AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
