Kidney trouble - low potassium diet needed

My dad has just been told he must eat a low-potassium diet. He and mum are coming to stay with me next week. What can I feed them?

We are away early tomorrow (Saturday) and return Monday night, and my parents are arriving the following afternoon, so I won't have much time to prepare.

I've been googling, but the info is very confusing - on one sheet it says that seeds are high in potassium, but in the next paragraph it says that seeds are OK in a low-potassium meal. (Also [worried])

Try the Uk national Kidney federation website. xx

There looks like there are some good leaflets to download here

The only diet sheet I've managed to download from the edren site is very incomplete, and disagrees with a more complete sheet that I've downloadedf rom another site. It's definitely confusing. National kidney fed tend give minimal info, and tend to refer patients back to their dr/renal dietician.

Does anybody have any experiences of living with a low-potassium diet?

try either your practice nurse or the renal dieticians at your local hospital. Other than that try NHS sites. If you havent got anything by that way, let me know and i will email you from work (im a renal secretary) and i can get you some details.
