I have 2 dcs still toddlers. DH and i use condoms on the odd occasion that we particpate LOL. My AF has been all over the joint and I'd like something to help to regulate my cycle (be helpful if I could avoid AF too).

I'm 37 so please tell me what you do/use and how you find it.

TIA

I'm 36, have 4 dc and don't want any more. I've also been having period issues, spotting for days before it got going, then very heavy, pain etc.

I had the mirena fitted a week ago (almost to the minute!). It wasn't as bad as I had expected, uncomfortable rather than painful. I had very light bleeding for 36 hours then nothing. I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones who don't get periods while it's in.

So, are you after something hormonal? I think the injection stops periods, not sure about the implant maybe that does too.

I'm afraid I'm not really the person t talk to about hormonal contraception, I don't get on with it at all and that doesn't make me keen to recommend it . I have a copper coil myself and it seems fab. It's been in 7 months now and I've not had any problems at all, I haven't had a period with it yet (am BF).

Why don't you want a coil, if I may ask? They are very convenient, almost totally maintenance free (20 mins every 5 years) and if you don't get on with the hormones they are out of your system ever so quickly once it's removed. Even quicker than the pill IIRC. With the injection, if it doesn't suit you you're still stuck with it for aaaages...

Just to be clear, lack of period is nothing to do with my copper coil. It's the BF, if anything a copper coil can make periods heaver (an hormonal one is more likely to make them lighter/stop).

I was on Cerazette and didn't have AF (thank you ) for 2 years, heaven.
