How am I going to get rid of these scabs on my face?

I fell last Friday, and unfortunately my face bore the brunt of the damage.

I have been left with 3 bad cuts on my face - one large area above my right eyebrow, one directly below my right eye, and a cut on my nose about the size of a 1p on the bridge of my nose. They are all quite deep, and the one on my nose is beginning to pucker round the edges and looks like it is going to scar badly.

5 days on, the swelling has gone down, but the scabs look awful. I have taken the week off work, and am due back next Tuesday. I need to get rid of the scabs before then.

Has anyone any tips to help me?

So far I have been taking loads of vitamins, vitamin C, royal jelly, vitamin E, arnica tablets and also applying vitamin E capsules directly to the wounds.

Keep them moist...don't let them dry out...simply use a moisturiser such as E45 and put it on throughout the day and lots on at night...dry scabs peel off...that is what causes the scars. Good luck!

Whatever you do, don't pick them...you really will scar. Let your body do its work.

Bio oil is meant to be wonderful if you do have scarring.

I wonder if Bio oil would work to keep them moist actually. You can get it in Boots...has a really good reputation on here. Don't sacrifice your long term looks in order to look scab free next week!

Leave them alone to allow them to heal properly and reduce the risk of scarring and infection.

Thanks, I think the one on my nose looks quite dry, and looks most likely to scar. I might try some Bio oil tonight, and cover with gauze.

I can't believe I've done this. I am avoiding everyone I know and looked like a complete pratt today as I wandered round Sainsburys in dark glasses and hat. I could hardly see a thing!

No gauze!!! if it sticks, you will pull off skin and scarring wll be more likely. Moisturise..use bio oil afterwards if you want to..I'm an ex nurse and when I nannied for a dermoltologist, this is what she did (E45 ++) when her children hurt themselves and it worked a treat!xx

Can't spell dermatologist now...need to go to bed!! Night Night!

MrsPoppins - thanks. Had already done the deed last night with Bio Oil & gauze, before I saw your post. Doesn't seem to have done any harm, and in fact it has loosened the edge of the scab on my nose, which was the one which was worrying me.

Having said that, I have gone down the E45 route this morning. Would you cover them with a dressing?

Am just back from the shops, and I could see people looking at me with a mixture of horror and pity. Not good.

No..no dressing . just rub in gently and don't worry. As for what other people think..they are probably thinking poor you! nothing bad..

Go back to work next week, head high and worry less. When I was pregnant years and years ago, I had Micturition hypotension...I used to faint when I wee'd!!! I fainted at 7 months pregnant, fell off the loo and woke up on the floor with carpet burns on my nose, eye and chin! I know how you feel!!!!!
xx
