Blind spots in eyes followed by a headache.

I have had this about 3-4 times in the past couple of months.

I am 28yrs old, under quite abit of stress at mo.

It starts off with these blind spots in my lower eye, sometimes one eye, sometimes both. Tonight for instance I was reading DD's a story, the book was on my lap and we were sitting up in bed, I struggled to see the words on the page because of the blindness.

About 15 minutes later I get a headache, at the moment it's not too bad but more in my eyes and makes me tired. I will probably end up going to bed in a bit. Beofre though the headache does get worse over the course of the day.

Is this a migraine? I am going to get my eyes tested too.

Thanks

sounds very like a migraine.

I get the blind spots, then also a pins & needles feeling and a sort of dazzling edge to everything I look at, followed by a migraine.

tiredness is often a trigger, also hormonal, or reactions to certain foods, or to lights..it varies. Best to get it checked anyway.

Sounds like a migraine to me, though mine start with what I'd call more flashings. I have a friend who says he has blind spots. They terrify him. You should go to a doctor as well as an optician though just to check.

meant to say 'followed by a headache'.

I think it's very likely that it's a migraine. And I also think that you should get off the computer, coz that'll make it worse!

Good idea to get your eyes tested though and possibly start making a diary of what you have eaten/done on the day you get them. There may be a trigger that you can avoid.

I remember years ago, I worked out that I used to get migraines from eating the cheap cheese on a jacket potato, from the office canteen!

Hope you feel better soon.

Migraine - can be with or without the headache. Occasionally I get the blind spots and semi-collapse with fatigue - but without the actual headache. Low blood sugar can be a trigger for me, or extreme tiredness and it comes out of nowhere: ie one minute I'm feeling fine, the next I can't see, the next I can't walk/talk. Have only had them this bad about 4 times but it is v frightening indeed.

Get it checked out...and get off the computer!

Yup, my migraines are like that. Blind spot, headache about 20 minutes later. If you take painkillers as the blind spot happens, they kick in in time to defeat the headache.

Might be worth checking triggers. For me it's fatigue, coupled with dehydration and low blood sugar. Often happens in periods of high stress with one or more of the above factors.

Good description of a migraine with visul aura.

See your GP, especially if you take the combined pill.
