... how often do you use it when cleared.

We have just had our first nit experience ( oh joy) and I am impressed with this comb. Just wondering whether to use regularly say once a week or not bother unless I see some more.

If I know it is going round the school, I will do a quick once over, concentrating behind the ears etc, once a week. Otherwise if I ever see them scratching or remember to do it.
I also have a spray bottle of water & tea tree oil that I will use before school if the previous night was bath night (ie every other day).

Poledra · 08/02/2010 14:14

I try to do it once a week, but don't get too stressed if I miss one here or there.

jay11 · 08/02/2010 14:15

once a week on hair wash days.

TrinityIsFallingApart · 08/02/2010 14:17

once a week on full long bath, wash hair days

in theory anyway

Stuffedcat · 08/02/2010 16:11

Thanks, we currently wash hair once a week so will start doing it then.

Just noticed she's been scratching her head a bit I can't see any sign of the critters. Can you itch when they have gone?!

I spent about 25 mins doing thoroughly, but am new to this so not sure what to expect.

She might still have some bites which are itching, but I would keep up with the combing till it stopped, TBH. You need to comb every 3 days for a minimum of 2 weeks to clear an infestation, even if you don't see any of the critters.

Can I hijack please? DD has just had her first bout of lice and I used the nitty gritty comb on Wednesday. Today I spotted a tiny louse so did again. Is this normal or should they all have gone the first time?

Plus - can the tiny lice lay eggs or do they have to be a certain age (dumb emoticon)?

TIA and sorry for the hijack.

LilRedWG · 10/04/2010 16:09

Doh - just read Poledra's post properly and she has answered my question.

Thanks.
