Ok I don't have any authority on my advice or exp with this particular issue however the first thing that sprang to mind was EFT, AKA the tapping technique - www.emofree.com/

Also, or another idea is what about an ultrasonic toothbrush. In the instructions on mine it says that instead of the brushing motion you just hold it on your gumline and let the vibrations do the work, and this blasts the plque away, seems to be ok for me. Is he OK to floss his teeth?

Watching this with interst. I loathe having anything inside my mouth and cleaning my teeth is the worst part of my day. I inevitably vomit half way through. I am going to check out that ultrasonic toothbrush now.

My DD had this problem...I ended up letting her start off by putting the toothpaste on her finger and rubbing it into her teeth for a while, then using a baby toothbrush (they're rubbery things, usually you put them on your fingertip), then I cut all the bristles off an ordinary toothbrush and got her to put that in her mouth, then eventually (and I do mean eventually, took about 6 weeks to get to this stage) she let me put a toothbrush in her mouth (a normal one with bristles, but a tiddly tiny toddler one). 2 years down the line, she happily brushes her teeth properly. With my DD it was a sensory issue because of her being asd. It was basically a process of desensitising her to the toothbrush.

No idea if this will help, but am pg with no. 3 and the sensation of brushing my teeth makes me feel sick - totally weird symptom - but can brush my teeth if standing in the shower. It feels and tastes slightly different and if I gag it's ok.
