Have yet to make the journey from NZ to Uk since having the epipen but have been told that some airlines now do not serve nuts with drinks because of nut allergies and also are nut free as far as meals go. Might be worth asking when you book. My friend's child is highly sensitive and has a reaction with even inhalation and frequently does long haul. Apparantly the requent change of air "dilutes" the consentration of "nuts" in the air and at the end of the flight her DS is left with mild "hayfever type symptoms" rather than having had a full blown attack.
She also advised me to take all my own food and not rely on the word of the airlines there have been cases of nut traces in "non-nut" airline food apparantly and a reaction in the air would be less than pleasant.
Not much help but have a great holiday wherever you go.

It is possible to request a nut-free plane on some airlines (I think American, although did they go bust in the end?). Worth a try.
