DS keeps shaking head

My 8 month old DS keeps wobbling his head from side to side as though he's got water in his ears - I've had a good look and cant see anything abnormal. He is fine otherwise - anyone know if this is a symptom of something or just normal baby behaviour (sorry if this is a silly question).

both dd and ds went through various head shaking phases (side to side, then shaking as if to say "no", then nodding). they seemed to think it was funny.

mind you, they are both a bit doolally sometimes.

Watch his face as he does it - is he looking around? He may just be checking out how things look when he wobbles!

If it was water you wouldn't be able to see anything anyway - have you tried holding him upside down and shaking him for drips?

(Joke btw )

ho ho - feeling a bit silly about it now - you're right he is probably just experimenting! I just worried because his twin had a nasty ear infection a few weeks ago which has been cleared up over a fortnight so thought it was unlikely he would get it.

Mine did that, harrogatemum, esp. ds2. Just liked seeing what he could do with his head, i think!!

Now listen guys, let this be a lesson to you all, I know my kids did this but have no idea which ones did it or at what age - if you haven't already, please please please write it down somewhere or else you will forget too

Mine too and at about this age... It's something to do with brain maturity allowing them to take control of fine movements of the neck/head (i.e. shaking first, then nodding - it's all rather complicated stuff really, when you consider how heavy it is in comparison to everything else)... Another milestone reached! Hurrah!
