I don't seem to have any of the risk factors but every so often (especially after a meal with a lot of cheese in it) I've been getting quite sharp and sometimes very painful sensations in the area where my gallbladder should be.

I don't feel it for ages but then it comes back and I suddenly remember about it again. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac at times but to be fair to me I didn't know exactly where the gallbladder was or that fatty meals would make things worse before I started researching so everything seems to fit.

I'm going to make an appointment with GP tomorrow as I've had pain on and off since last night when I had very very cheesy quesadillas!

Just wondered if any others had similar experiences/words of advice? Thank you!

You could have IBS, straightforward indigestion (quite common if you eat rich, heavy food), you could have an inflamed gall-bladder (less likely) or it could be something else entirely. It's always a mistake to try to self-diagnose or self-medicate via the internet... so seeing your GP is the best move. However, if you notice it happens especially after eating a lot of greasy cheese, it would seem to make sense to change your diet a little.

Thanks for the reply.

Just replying because I was at the GP this morning. He asked me what I thought the pain was and of course I rambled about being a terrible googler (if that's a word!) and that I suspected it might be gallbladder pain.

I waited for him to lecture me but he didn't, he just said "yes, I think you're right!" So I've to go in for blood tests to test liver function next week and have been referred for an ultrasound (god knows when).

I think Monday night was an attack as it was really severe pain (he reckons I either passed a stone or it popped back in to the gallbladder), but it's still dull and achey just now

Anyone else had gallbladder problems at such a young age?
