Hello

I wanted to see if there was anyone else in the horrid position I am in...

Im a mum of 2 (a very responsible mum ).
My Oldest son who is now 4 had all his jabs... however as soon as he had his first set at 8 weeks things went downhill for him. He got a MASSIVE lump in his neck (gland) that just never went down... he became unwell with a fever for weeks & weeks, was tired ALL the time... had fevers almost every night etc etc.. so much so that the hospital were considering testing for lymphoma cancer. He had his MMR at age 1... things then got even worse.... 6 urine infections, a fever of 104 that lasted for 3 weeks...again his neck g;and bacme so big that the hospital even scanned it & took about 30 sets of blood from him. My poor baby now has M.E (CFS). This was without a doubt all brought on by vaccinations.. his immune system has been damaged by them in some way. He has had 4 years of hell.... & it continues.... he always shattered, joint pains etc... & cannot live a normal life as he just has no energy.

Now I have a daughter who is 10 months... she has not had ANY vaccines... I have researched this & made a decision to not give her any jabs.. This was not, & still is NOT an easy decision... but im sooooooooooo frightened that if I have her done she will go like my son did. She is perfectly healthy now... Breastfed as My son was I I want her to stay that way.

Is there anyone else out there who can share their experiences with me... I am a commited mum who wants the best for both her children..but after seeing the state my son is in (& im totally sure the jabs harmed him) how could I have sat there & had her done too.... knowing that she could have gone the same way as he did? Im so frightened of her getting the illnesses I havent had her vaccinated against.. but still.... cannot chance her reacting the same way as he has (& there is a good chance she would as we have LOTS of auto immune probs in our family)

we are also off abroad in may & its freaking me out

xx

Michele Odent has done extensive research on vaccines, and interestingly, older men in France who had been given the tetanus vaccine had a lower overall death rate (over a given period)than those unvaccinated,no-one has any idea why this is! Other vaccines showed the opposite effect.Just shows that vaccination has all sorts of unpredicable non-specific effects on health.

Hi I have 5 year old twins who have had no vaccinations. If you want more information look at www.informedparent.co.uk

probono · 21/02/2010 09:42

My 10 yo had only infant vaccs, no MMR, Men C, or pre-school boosters. We went to India last year, no problems.

(I think this might be why so many people get ill when they go off the beaten track on holiday -- because a week before they go they have all this stuff shoved in.)

My friend had typhoid vacc and contracted typhoid on holiday.

MariaBN6 · 06/03/2010 22:11

It's so good to find out there is smb else not vaccinating. I stopped vaccinating DD1 at 9 months after she had BCG and developed a lump on her arm which kept filling up with yellowish puss and was sooo tender to touch - she would cry from pain. It lasted for almost a year, horrible looking lump with puss coming out every now and then and the health visitor saying it's a normal reaction. It's an ongoing debate obviously and nobody knows the truth... DD2 is 6 months and hasn't had any. I still don't know if it is the right thing not to vaccinate her, I might do it later though, when she is a bit bigger. She has some mild allergies and I don't want to vaccinate at the moment and make it worse. It's a huge responsibility and so hard to make the right decision...

sleepylion · 11/03/2010 13:50

HI everyone,

I tuned into this thread as I sometimes also feel a little insecure about my choices not to vaccinate. Naturally, any choice can cause this feeling now and then.

My dd is 2 yrs, and we just visited a potential school. On the form they asked if she was vaccinated. When I told them no, they said it could cause an issue if she gets a nasty cut, as I would have to get there quickly to take her to hospital for a tetanus jab. Does anyone have any idea how quickly you need to act, how much time you have to get the jab? I can never be sure I would get to the school on time. Makes me anxious to think that I could well be miles away if that ever happened. Im a single mum, so the responsibility would lie solely on me.

It's the tetanus jab that I wonder about the most. this is the one my doctor said was most essential. I have so many unanswered questions on this. Fair enough if we only travel in europe for holidays one day, but what if I do want to travel further away with her over the years? And what if she decides to go culture-seeking one day? What then? What are the options? can anyone shed more light here?

Many thanks.

p.s happy with my decison not to vaccinate so far. i know so many children who broke out in strange reactions after. My dd is so healthy and strong. I'd find it SO hard to see her injected with the toxic nastiness thats in those things....

MustHaveaVeryShortMemory · 15/03/2010 11:25

Well if she wants to at a later date she could just have vaccinations then.

If you're really worried have the tetanus done for her. (you'd probably have to pay)

I don't know the answer to your questions about how quickly she would need the tetanus. Presumably they would take her to hospital if she had a 'nasty cut' and it would be cleaned and treated. I doubt an extra hour would make any difference.

MustHaveaVeryShortMemory · 15/03/2010 11:34

Just found this

docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:TG5z_V6XM8YJ:www.em.whatcomcounty.org/health/pdf/tetanus_fax_feb0 8.pdf+tetanus+vaccination+after+injury&hl=en&gl=au&sig=AHIEtbRqfXqq6du2ARPMWQbSyriNDaEjjg

Says same day or up to 72 hours after an injury.

Hi everyone,
Just found this thread too and so glad to hear other like-minded parents discuss this matter.
Our DS is 6 months old and has not had any jabs. We are still undecided and feel there isn't really a 'right' choice to make - whatever we do we won't be entirely happy about it. Our main worry about not having the jabs is the meningitis one - does anyone know if it is genuinely needed? Can't seem to find much data on it. Thanks very much.

While it's every parents choice whether or not to vaccinate, I just wanted to mention to the person who said measles is worse in puberty, that my mother got measles in her eyes when she was 4 years old and it's the reason she ended up wearing glasses. While this is hardly the same as becoming seriously ill, I think people can under estimate the effects of childhood illnesses because we see them so much less frequently (precisely because of vaccines).

I'm currently typing this with my DD in the sling who had her second lot of jabs yesterday - today she's very tired and has a temperature. Hopefully this the the worst reaction she will ever get because I would be really torn if she had a reaction like some of the ones described here...

pinkpeony · 31/03/2010 11:03

My friend's husband is almost sterile because he contracted mumps during puberty, and his parents had not vaccinated him. They had to have multiple rounds of IVF to conceive their child, and he had to have sperm extracted surgically for the IVF because he was not producing enough. Just one thing to keep in mind when considering whether or not to vaccinate your children. I will vaccinate my DS for mumps (and probably do MMR if single jab mumps not available) as don't want to be the reason for him ever having that problem later in life.

There will always be loads of arguments for and against - yes he may have become infertile BUT some children have become brain damaged after injections.....

As for the school saying that about tetanus is a bit off - I would have replied with, if my child has a cut that is that bad - I would hope that you WOULD ring me to come straight away - or to meet you at the hospital!! You would hope also that if a child cuts themsleves at school, they would keep it clean

crumpette · 20/05/2010 19:06

Have never vaccinated DCs and never will. Sorry about your son's reactions, OP.

You may find this link interesting side effects

tetanus not very many cases occur, you could get it done as a single jab if you felt you should here, for example but I personally wouldn't do it at such a young age

MistyB · 28/05/2010 10:40

I know this is an old thread but just a quick note on Tetanus:

The tetanus bug is anaerobic and therefore affects deep puncture wounds or covered wounds that are left dirty. In 1999, there were three reported cases of tetanus one of which was fatal. Confirmed cases are frequently in the elderly or in drug users. Good wound hygiene, including washing out by squeeing gently to allow blood to flow, washing with Hydrogen Peroxide Solution and keeping the wound uncovered will significantly reduce the risk of tetanus infection.

Also, have a look at the Arnica group. The Yahoo group are pretty good at vaccination related queries.

Tabitha8 · 28/05/2010 13:02

How about a jab for polio? That's one we've been considering. Don't know what the chances are of catching the disease in the UK. DS is now 12 months and had no jabs at all so far. Just can't make up my mind.

bubbleymummy · 28/05/2010 20:39

Tabitha. I don't think there's been a case of polioi. The uk since the 70s. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I have a link to the figures on the WHO website on my laptop but I'm on my phone at the moment. Polio was rapidly declining before the introduction of the vaccine due to improved sanitation and hygeine. Someone ca maybe help out with posting charts if they have them o n their computer...

MistyB · 28/05/2010 21:37

Polio
Quote from WHO
Most people infected with the poliovirus do not develop polio paralysis or other symptoms of polio infection. However one in 200 people do have symptoms and can become paralyzed. The virus enters the environment through faeces of people infected then is passed to others especially in situations of poor hygiene.

Last case in Europe was in Turkey in 1998. Last in the UK was 1982.

angel1952 · 30/05/2010 16:51

My daughter after much reading has decided not to vaccinate her 4 months old baby. Very bad response from medical professionals. Please check up what exactly is contained in vaccines and effects and get informed choice. Lots of info out there e.g. www.babyjabs.co.uk. 'Truth Behind Vaccinations by Dr. Richard Halvorsen' book. Desumo climic is running petition to govt. for single jabs and has supports of JABS, Autism Indued Allergy & Dr. Mansfield. and all vacciners which contain mercury based preservative 'thiomersal' to be removed. Many vaccines contain aluminium and animal DNA, toxic metals, immune destructive chemicals. Proteins and genetic materials from cattle, viruses and bacteria are mixed before these particles injected into you or children. Contains foreign DNA RNA and genetically engineered bacterial and/or viruses which attack immune system further may cause cancer cells as well. Adjuvents added. type in 'truthaboutvaccines' website, www.tetrahedron.org; 'Informed choice'website; www.mediafire.com; www.rutherford.org.
Nurembourg Code states: The voluntary consent of the human subject is essential. No experimental vaccine should be 'conducted' where there is an a priori reason to believe that death or disabling injury will occur, except, perhaps, in those experiments where the experimental physicians also serve as a subjects. Autism has increased 5000% in recent years and we are giving 25 vaccinations by time child 19 months old and more on the way! Linked to ADHD, auto immune diseases, cancers, ear infections etc. see www.pakalert.wordpress.com . We need to do everything to safeguard and protect life. I know of 2 cases where children had vaccinations and within days developed autism and mothers cannot forgive themselves... Weigh up all risks and consequences. We have not to be brow-beaten by those in medical profession. At present vaccinations are not compulsory so dont let anyone brow-beat you into submission!

Tabitha8 · 31/05/2010 15:38

There was something on TV last week about polio being on our dirty beaches (those with a sewage overflow pipe). That's what got me thinking about it a bit more. Sounds scary, but they didn't say if anyone was likely to catch polio in that way. There's no cure, is there?

bubbleymummy · 31/05/2010 17:22

Well there's nothing to kill the polio virus if that's what you mean by cure. You just treat the symptoms like you would with cold or flu until the patient recovers. (2-10 days according to google ) Not every case of polio results in paralysis you know.

bubbleymummy · 31/05/2010 17:44

here is the nhs link. Apparently the paralytic version only occurs in less than 1% of sufferers. The symptoms and treatment described in the bulk of the link are for paralytic polio. The usual polio symptoms are listed in the first paragraph at the top - patients are either asymptomatic or show flu like symptoms for 2-3 days. Hth.

AllSheepareWhite · 31/05/2010 18:44

I reacted to my early baby jabs and ended up hospitalised with measles (from vaccine) aged 2 1/2 and had lots of illnesses as a young child. Never had a vaccination after that until I stupidly decided to have tetanus/polio aged 18 (my mum would have never let me!), developed glandular fever and CF symptoms soon after from which I am only just recovering (pregnancy seemed to help), but still get sick more regularly than other people even from colds. Brother exclusive bf as well as no vaccinations, caught measles aged six months from me (as had to be in hospital while my mum was with me) was absolutely fine and hardly gets ill.

I decided not to vaccinate my 11 1/2 month old who is still breastfed, she hardly gets ill only sniffles which coincide with teething (I guess immunity drops at this time). I don't regret my decision having done lots of research into vaccine effectiveness and side effects.

Not sure about going abroad issue, depends where you are going and I guess you would have to weigh up the vaccine side effects with common symptoms of bug they supposedly protect against and/or location in the world (possibility of natural immunity to yellow fever for example if you live in UK).
