just to give you the history, i started having a horrible choking feeling like a lump in my throat , terribly painful indigestion and a warm slushy feeling (constant) in stomach.

was told it would be reflux, took tablets for 4 months and then had an endoscopy although the pain side of things was improved and i think had i had an ulcer it would have been healed by the time of the endoscopy.

anyway, said i had h.pylori infection and treated me for that.
this was july last year. since then i have had no pain or bad throat just this warm/hot feeling churning around stomach all the time.

1 doc said dont take the tablets longterm , sort out my stress levels and the other one said do take the tablets or you risk problems from the acid .
anyway, as i wasnt too bad anymore i didnt take the tablets but now the PAIN is back and the bad throat is back and it is worse than i have ever had it.

ive been awful for 3 weeks now, ive took the tablets everyday to no avail. seems even they dont help anymore.

i have lost weight as i have been eating crisps, cuppa soups and little else.
has anyone else ever had this? feel like i am bloody doomed

thanks for reading

yes, you need to go back to the gastroenterologist

my throat also gets terribly affected. They seem not keen to be permanently on the acid suppressors long term any more but if I don't take them, I get laryngitis all the time and started to get this horrific thing where my larynx would go into spasm and I couldn't get air in (you feel like you are going to die - but luckily it only spasms for about 30-60 seconds but good gawd, it's dreadful when it happens).

go back and ask the specialist for help

have you done the changing diet thing and raising the head end of your bed?

foxinsocks · 26/01/2010 19:20

and btw cheery, I get totally fed up with this too. I wake up feeling nauseous and have to commute to work. It drives me insane.

cheeryface · 26/01/2010 19:42

thanks for replying, crap isnt it. i also feel nauseous alot and have sinus pressure and head pressure which i think can be connected weirdly.
i feel that after the endoscopy showed nothing they have just written me off as an anxiety sufferer. i even started to believe it was anxiety causing this thraot thing myself as thats what everyone kept telling me. i now know though that its these symptoms that make me fed up and somewhat anxious not the other way round. without this i am happy as larry!

yes, I know exactly what you mean. I also have sinus issues and am convinced they are all connected.

They found inflammation on my endoscopy (all over the place) but no indication of an underlying disorder that causes it. Interestingly, both my children had reflux from birth (and are still refluxy now) which just shows how it isn't always stress .

I would love to hear how you get along because I feel I've hit a bit of a brick wall with it. I am considering asking for a job lot of nausea tablets now and taking one every now and then when the nausea is at its worst.

I agree with you. It's a real pain in the arse and does affect your quality of life. I find the nausea is starting to make me anxious (for ages, I kept doing pregnancy tests lol, then I worried that I had actually picked up a tummy bug, then I resigned myself to it all the time but it still got to me).

I am less stressed than I have been for a while. I did read a v interesting report that said raising the head end of your bed (shove a few hardbacks under each side) is about the most beneficial thing you can do.

I'm guessing you know all the lifestyle ones (small meals, don't eat too near to bed, not too much alcohol/spicy stuff etc. etc.)

cheeryface · 26/01/2010 20:37

do you take lansoprazole ? the first doc said there was no evidence of reflux on the endoscopy and i shouldnt take the lansoprazole but sort out my stress. but surely there wouldnt be much evidence of reflux if i had been on them for the last 4 or 5 months and had even taken one that day. he told me to.
i always thought they should be stopped before an endoscopy?

cant understand why they arent having any effect now , been taking one every morning for a couple of weeks

no I take omeprazole but have just run out of them grrr

maybe you have H Pylori again? you will need to get another test I think (or maybe they will treat you for it as you've had it before?). I guess you may well need the antibs which is why the lanz isn't working on its own.

foxinsocks · 26/01/2010 20:45

ps have you looked at gastritis? as the churning stomach is what gastritis feels like to me

cheeryface · 26/01/2010 20:51

do you think they would test again for h.pylori ? seeing as it was only a few months since? they only did it at my request then aswell as i said i wasnt happy not knowing whether it really was gone or not.

lost all faith in doctors really.

i'll look up gastritis , thanks

at least i now know im not alone! although i wouldnt wish anyone to put up with this. ive been a right grump with my kids. it does affect life in general your right.

well I wonder if it never went away (your H Pylori). Worth asking anyway and I do know someone who got it again (but don't know how common that is).

it's an annoying condition - not bad enough to warrant anything serious (thank goodness) but enough to have an impact on your day to day life. V frustrating.

I hope you get some joy with the docs! Let me know what they say.

alypaly · 27/01/2010 19:19

gastritis is horribly painful...have had it recently. Your stomach hurts, gurgles like mad and really bloats up.I found i couldnt lie down properly

Doc put me on omeprazole 40 mg and i cut out all spicy food and alcohol for 4 weeks. They really helped. The first time i got it was caused by gall stones which got sorted out with my gall bladder removed last june.
