Metabolising caffeine

Does anyone out there if some people process caffeine more efficiently than others? I speak as someone who gets the jitters from a thimbleful of ordinary coffee (say a half espresso sized cup), and palpitations from a standard sized cup. I'm breastfeeding and have found that the baby screams like a banshee and twitches if I have a tiny amount. I've also found that it makes me stink. It's definitely been worse since I had children, and even worse when my thyroid started misbehaving. If I have any amount of coffee after noon, I can guarantee a sleepless night. It's just unfair! I love coffee, but can never drink it now.

I have friends who can drink oodles of coffee without any side-effects; my own son seems to be able to drink coffee at bedtime and still sleep. My grandmother claimed it sent her to sleep (wtf?? it's a stimulant!).

So what's the deal here?

I'm the same just can't drink the stuff, my sister once gave me a non decaf tea and i could tell near enough straigh away felt really odd shakey etc!!

My hubby once got me some paracetamol that had added caffine and we both didnt know, 15 mins after taking it my hands went pins and needles my ears were ringing, and i nearly passed out going all clammy. It was very scarey and lasted a little while so from now on i stick to decaf. I think maybe if u take a break from caffine then start again your body acts funny.

maybe try defcaf coffee i know it doesnt give you the unf the caffine does but still tastes good.

I think it must vary from person to person. I cannot do coffee! It gives me the jitters like a 9 yr old after an espresso.
