It hurts a lot.

He has painkillers for hospital etc but any tips for making him more comfortable.

I am being nice to him and not taking the piss. Which as he did it playing footie is very kind of me I think.

don't make him laugh, sneeze or cough! ouchies

extra cushions on the sofa so he can try and gt in a comfy position.. and suppose arnica might help with the bruising?

broken ribs are ouch!

TulipsInTheRain · 25/01/2010 13:46

it'll start to ease down in a few days but will still be quite tender for a few weeks (and probably cause him ongoing irritation for years)

he just needs to stay fairly still and go easy for a few days (not that i did, i was 18 and drank away the pain )

try not to tell him any jokes

Thanks.

I have arnica cream. Will go and find.

Perhaps he should stay permanently pissed then?

I feel your pain having a DH who has come back from footie twice with the same complaint.

Lots of cushions on the sofa is a must, and some extra pillows in bed if poss. And no sharp braking while he's in the car . It'll be a few week before he's feeling more comfortable. I keep suggesting to my DH that he takes up something like tiddlewinks instead of football - which earns me a withering stare .

DH is 47, cakey. But would only give up if they carry him off in a coffin! The next youngest in the team is 33 and the rest are all more or less teenagers .

Hope heals well and quickly and is back out on the pitch soon The good thing about my DH being out of footie action was that I didn't have any smelly football kit and bibs to wash. Every cloud ....

Get a bath towel and fold it lengthways. When he needs to cough he can wrap it around his back/chest and hold it tight whilst he coughs, it will give a bit of support to the injured area. Alternatively buy him a nice corset

Thanks for the towel tip stanasaurus. I seem to have been given a lot of advice from you recently - much appreciated!
