antibiotic treatment for uterine infection - side effects?

Hello, i wonder if anyone has had similar experience - been treated for suspected uterine infection (7 weeks after c-section). Doc's put me on Ofloxacin and Metronidazole (combo used to treat Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) and though the crampiness and discharge have lessened, i've been very weak, dizzy, disorientated with nervousness and near-panic attacks. Wasn't feeling great before the treatment, obviously, but definitely feeling worse in many respects. NHS 24 advised coming off Metronidazole and i wont be able to speak to my doc til next week, so still taking Ofloxacin, but still v.dizzy. Not expecting any full on medical appraisals but would be interested to know anyone's thoughts, kind of at wits end worrying if it's me or the meds and if stopping one antibiotic's going to make infection worse! (though swab results not in yet). Yoik.
Cheers x

think you need to be reassessed. get in touch with NHS24 tonight, tell them your worsening symptoms and they should point you in the right direction- probably OOH GP at nearest PCEC. did you speak to a pharmacy advisor or a nurse?

Thanks blinks, do you mean diagnosis or meds reassessed? It was the OOH GP I spoke to after initial conversation with NHS24, told me to go 24 hours off M (he told me he was 'reading' the side effects and they were the most likely culprit, though i have read from several online pharma sites that Ofloxacin has similar - and more - side effects.). Also seemed to think that even though it was a 14day dose, that the 3.5 days i was on it could have cleared any infection. Anyway, think you're right, need to speak to them again. I dont have the same intensity of what i assume's the side effects but the dizziness is enough to cause concern. Ironically, infection symptoms are improving. Still not sure i actually have PID though. Thanks for your comment, i'll call now.

agree that it could well be the ofloxacin as dizziness is a common side effect according to drugs.com

i would think a pharmacy advisor might be the best option, via nhs24, although they often don't have one on through the night.

they will have a pharmacy advisor from tomorrow am though (i am an advisor/call handler there)

belated thanks, blinks - finally spoke to my GP, infection results have come back from lab as negative, at least for specific kinds of infection (possible 'retained membrane') so investigations ongoing, still have to finish the course of ofloxacin though, and put up with the side effects apparently.... joy.
