Was that a migraine?

Trying to work out what happened to me yesterday - was in the new office at work and vision started to go blurry/moving/swirly. It got progressively worse until I could only see properly out of the very edge of my peripheral vision. The swirling carried on even when I shut my eyes. Other than this i was feeling fine. After about hour and half it suddenly cleared up. I took a couple of paracetemol in case it was a migraine (never had one before) and a couple of hours later I felt quite nauseous but this may have been due to a taxi ride as I get travel sick. went to bed very early and feel fine today.

what was it? should i get my eyes checked by optician? should i see the doc?

is this a migraine??

Sounds like it to me. I used to get that visual disturbance too.

Sounds like a migraine, as I get them and get the same, but always go on to have the screaming headache, dead down one side etc etc. I would ask a doctor or optician though just to be sure.

do you think it may have been triggered by the very old and annoying fluorescent strip lights I have to sit under in the office (just moved into it)

if it is migraines -can you ward them off by taking meds as soon as you get the visual disturbances?

different/flickering lights are a trigger for migraine. If you catch it early enough medication can help or at least take the edge off. Stuff from over the counter might help - Migraleve (sp) etc or if they become a regular fixture something from the doctor from the triptan family which (I think) act on the blood vessels in the brain. Someone on another thread recently suggested chewing an aspirin, I might try this in future!
