am so desperate for a bath but remember from previous winters the unparalleled agony of immersing my feet in even warmish water, never mind hot

one foot is one giant chilblain, the other has them on tips of each toe and on the edges and pad bits underneath

is there anything that actually helps - apart from the onion/urine type ideas from AIBU to wonder if am Victorian thread

Mitchy I answered on your chat thread. I had them years ago, and used something called snowfire, which helped a bit.

hi KK ! I am suffering a bit with them -first time ever - someone recommended Nelson's chilblain cream - a homeopathic thing - but I think there's nothing really that can be done to ease them from what I've read.

I do remember them being very painful/itchy MAS, but if its any consolation I only got them one (very cold) winter.

yes,itchy and swollen yuck !

I'm a sufferer too (since Uni - was I old before my time or what?!). Snowfire works for me but is hard to get hold of, and the nelsons one does too, but they relieve and don't cure.
I can't use a hot water bottle - that causes them for me.

We all had them when we were children with cold tiled floors. The best way to get rid of them is - and I'm sorry about this but it really works - to scrub them gently with a soft nailbrush and warm, not hot, soapy water. If they are too awful even to contemplate that, try rubbing them gently with a rough towel. It's the friction that increases the circulation that gets rid of the fluid which causes the inflamation.

I have just got them again dur to a combination of recent very cold weather and having removed our sitting room carpet so having feet directly on cold concrete floor. Have treated with the brush and they have retreated. Also now sit with my feet up on the sofa!
