Endless cough - help!

DH has a terrible cough which goes on and on and on and on. Apparently it is only in the evenings, but it is driving us mad. I am not worried about it being anything serious, as so many work colleagues seem to have it, bit has anyone any anti-cough tips? Boots chesty cough syrup seemed to work quite well for a while, but no longer.

It might be worth him just getting checked out with his GP anyway you know. Could be something as simple as an infection that needs a dose of antibiotics to get rid or the GP might prescribe a stronger cough suppressant.

I had this since October, felt ok (no temp) but "chesty" coughing mainly evening and night. It came and went, I thought I'd shake it off but never did. Went to docs last week and he said chest was clear, it was a chronic sinus infection. Antibiotics cleared it in a couple of days

I'd get him down to the GP, there's lots of bugs around at the mo but if it is treatable, GP will be able to tell you.

Mmmmm. Getting a man to go to the doctor. Also a hypochondriac .... Sounds exactly likw what you are describing, Scoobi.

alot of these viral infections leave you with a nagging cough for weeks on end. Sometimes it takes a ventolin inhaler to settle it down. But if it is mainly at night it might be dust mites in the mattress which is what DS2 had. He just coughed his head off from the minute he laid down in bed til he got up in the morning.
Bought new mattress and dust covers and it has solved the problem.

Night and morning and worse at home than when out.

Don't suppose you can just buy a ventolin inhaler?

Can anyone think of anything that would help someone boost their immune system and get over this??
