I have the implant. They gave me local before 'injecting' the rod into my upper arm. They then put a pressure bandage on to reduce bruising. It only ached for a couple of days (just like I'd banged my arm or something) and then it was fine. I can just feel it under my skin.

I've not had a period/bleed since having it inserted and I'm keen to have another one done when this one 'expires'. I've had few side effects - maybe a couple more headaches than usual when it first was implanted but not much more than that TBH.

I have it too - got it after DD3 as no more babies for me, and DH not keen on having his knackers operated on. The insertion was fine, just as Iklboo said. I wasn't bleeding when I started with it (still bfeeding) but, since stopping, I hvae spotted quite a lot. It's a pain in the bum, as I need to use some sort of sanitary protection all the time ATM, but it's not a disaster. I'm waiting it out to see if it settles down (stopped feeding in October). Otherwise, I've had no problems.

are you sure it doesnt hurt?

Really, truly, it doesn't hurt. There's the scratch of the local anaesthetic, then your arm will ache for a couple of days. However, I was sawing wood for the fire on Saturday, and my arm ached worse that night than it did when I had my implant put in.

BTW, my spotting has stopped over the last 2 weeks - fab!
