He is complaining of being freezing cold, despite being in the house since 2pm and having the fire on it is like 20deg now.
He keeps falling asleep, and is quite hard to wake (although to be fair it is pretty hard to wake him usually, but not in the day).
He complained of being too dizzy to get up.
He is 46.
Please tell me he just has a virus / manflu and to pack him off to bed.
It just seems a bit odd.

Call NHS Direct maybe? It may be nothing but it does not sound 'right'.

IsItMeOr · 12/01/2010 18:36

Has he got a temperature? Sounds like flu, but agree call NHS Direct.

notevenamousie · 12/01/2010 18:59

Flu probably - horrible to witness - no harm in calling NHS direct but def dose him up and get him to bed.

fluffles · 12/01/2010 19:01

i'd send him to bed and check on him (that he's breathing ok and doesn't have a fever) every hour or so.

sounds like a nasty virus coming on.

FlightAttendant · 12/01/2010 19:04

Carbon monoxide???

Lulumama · 12/01/2010 19:06

i woudl call for advice esp if he is feverish ,dizzy and hard to rouse, and you are worried enough to ask .

call NHS direct or your GP out of hours

FlightAttendant · 12/01/2010 19:06

...if no fever present and he has these symptoms, and you have a gas fire etc, 999 now.

belgo · 12/01/2010 19:07

Agree, call NHSdirect or your GP. It concerns me that he is hard to wake up.

Has he taken any paracetamol etc? Have you taken his temperature?

FlightAttendant · 12/01/2010 19:13

Concordia please come back and let us know how he is, when you have a chance.

belgo · 12/01/2010 19:15

I'm a bit worried too now Flight.

It may just be the start of a nasty cold - those symptoms can be explained by a temperature - but as you say, it could be something more serious.

FlightAttendant · 12/01/2010 19:18

Yes exactly Belgo, the fact OP was worried enough to post, mentioned he had had the fire on all afternoon, and also that she posted at about half past 6, and nobody mentioned CO until 7ish...not to criticise anyone but if she hasn't thought of it, he could be in real danger as could the rest of the family.

Hope she comes back on.

Concordia · 12/01/2010 21:18

hi, sorry for delay in coming back.
thanks everyone for your advice sorry i think i may have worried you unncessarily .
afteri posted or maybe as i was doing so, DS managed to wake him by asking to go to the toilet and then he was awake for a whole 10 minutes, managed to go upstairs put DS on toilet and leave him there ! and then get himself into bed. He didn't feel feverish earlier (which is what got me worried) but in the last couple of hours he's become very hot. wouldn't let me take his temp or give him a lempsip. i don't think he could stay awake long enough.
i listened to him breathing / snoring for a bit and it seemed as regular as normal.
Therefore I have calmed down and think he is probably just fluey and overtired.
we have not had our gas fire serviced in ages but we have a carbon monoxide monitor with an alarm which says thngs are fine.
the children (and I) have been in the house longer than him and they seem absolutely fine so thankfully i really don't thinkit's CO.

hope he's alright today!

Concordia · 13/01/2010 13:12

he seems fine and has gone to work, now i feel really silly for worrying myself and others

Im glad he is okay concordia - dont worry about posting unnecessarily!
It was necessary because you were concerned!

IsItMeOr · 13/01/2010 15:42

Don't worry Concordia - I think quite a few of us, me included, would have been worried. Hence my suggestion of flu. But given he has gone to work today, he is either a) going to be sorry and feeling very grotty this evening or b) I misdiagnosed and it was manflu.

Concordia · 13/01/2010 23:59

belated diagnosis of manflu
seems absolutely fine this evening ?!?

IsItMeOr · 14/01/2010 14:24

Glad to hear it. And apologies for being sexist - I gather manflu does actually exist...
