Poor you - I tipped boiling water over my hand when I worked in a cafe as a teenager, 1st/2nd degree burns and very uncomfortable for ages.

Persevere with the dressings however daft you feel. You effectively have an open wound which is prone to infection. If it does get infected you increase the risk of poor healing and scarring. You also need to allow time for the normal healing process to start (called granulation) to reduce the risk of scaring. This will start to form a protective cover over the exposed layers of skin and may eventually form a scab/crust. Listen to the nurse and take their advice on when/how to remove the dressing.

Hope you're feeling better soon

Hi Mummybandage. Poor you! It is very painful when you burn yourself, and ironically, the less severe the burn, the more it hurts.

You really do need to wear the dressings. Your skin is an organ, and one of it's main functions is to protect your body from infection. If you take the dressings off, you expose the wounds to the elements, and they are more likely to get infected.
