knackered my back last week. took some hefty drugs and slept lots but blamed the drugs for the tiredness.

havn't taken any for a couple of days because of the tiredness and all over itching thy were causing. my back is mostly Ok now just stiff and niggly but bearable.

But i'm still so tired. totally washed out knackered. i slept 13 hours last night and now all i wat is more sleep.

is this normal?.

IME yes, i sleep loads when am having a crisis in my managed pain.

FlightAttendant · 09/01/2010 14:43

It might still be the drugs in your system but yes, pain automatically makes your body overcompensate in various subtle ways, a bit like when you walk on sand

So added together this can make you physically tired.

WinkyWinkola · 09/01/2010 14:44

Pain is exhausting ime.

FlightAttendant · 09/01/2010 14:44

What were you on? i think a couple of days you are prob still within the detox period iyswim
Depends on half-life of active ingredient

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/01/2010 14:46

took diazepam on weds evening and last tramadol on thurs evening.

just taken ibuprofen today.

fl;ight - yes it feels like that - everything is more of an effort thanit should be.
perhaps it's that

did they find out what was wrong with your back?

MorningNicePeople · 09/01/2010 14:51

everyone reacts differently to the same meds.

FlightAttendant · 09/01/2010 14:52

Then it is prob too soon to tell EG, those are quite potent.

Hope it wears off soon.

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/01/2010 14:54

don't know what's wrong with it. just generally knackered i think. will go to chiro when snow has cleared a bit.

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/01/2010 14:55

so i'm justified in having a little nap then?

I don't know how it works in this country. Is a chiropracter a proper doctor for backs? Have they done an x-ray

with the amount of pain you were in, I would hope they would have a look at it properly iyswim

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/01/2010 15:01

may venture to GP if i can brace myself (hate GP with a passion - utterly rubbish)

x-ray wouldn't be any help. only show up bones.

I am a little wary of chiropractors having been told by one that there was no such thing as a trapped nerve. Turned out I had a slipped disc and associated sciatica pain (an amazingly painful trapped nerve) identified by an MRI scan.

Pain is exhausting.

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/01/2010 15:04

arse GP it may be then.

and a nap for now.

I always find a hot bath with Epsom Salts helps relax.

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/01/2010 15:07

ice helps most but it's too bloody cold for it at the mo.

and dh is soaking the oven shelves in my bath

foxinsocks · 09/01/2010 15:07

but maybe it is something wrong with a bone or some such. Either way, maybe you do need some scans and an x-ray you poor thing.

I hope you do go to your GP. Sounded awful what you went through and I think a proper doctor (don't know who looks after backs?) could have a good look at it and see what is causing you so much pain.

EccentricaGallumbits · 09/01/2010 15:11

thanks. sympathy appreciated.
