Ruptured Cesarean Stitches

Hi, my sister had her baby on New Years Day after an emergency c-section. Tonight she has been rushed to hospital (by her dh, with newborn as it was impossible to get through to 999!) because after the midwife took her stitches out this morning, she started bleeding and her wound opened up. They have stitched her up again and she is staying in hospital overnight, unfortunately I can't get to her (because of ds and snow!) but really worried about her.

Has this happened to you? Any tips/advice? How long was your recovery?

Hi whethergirl. What a shame for your poor sister. I have not had this happen to me, so unfortunatley cannot offer much advice. I know that there are a few different reasons why this can happen and it will depened on why as to how long recovery will take. I would suggest that you post this on the childbirth thread as you will probably get much more information. I do hope your sister recovers soon.

gosh poor sister. I bet she was scared to death. How awaful for her. I have to say it seems a bit early to take caesarean stitches out so soon after an emergency c section.its barely 7 days

Thank you Lilybunny, I will try the childbirth thread too.

Alypaly, the midwife actually wanted to take the stitches out the day before! But couldn't get to her because of the snow.

It's standard practice to take out stitches on the 5th day after a cs.

Do post on childbirth. You should get some response there.

Have just posted there, thanks.
