Does anyone have a magic cure? Failing that any suggestions as to how to improve it?
I had 4 sessions with the physio on NHS which seemed to help a little. However it is now back - the familiar stabbing pain in the centre of my pubic bone.

I still have to be carefull afer 8 years! Physio did no good, I went to an oestopath who pushed it back together [non technical term]

Hi,

Still have it and DD is 10 months old. I have it mainly in my SI joints so get shooting pains in my arse-back of leg. Literally a PITA...... had the same with my 1st pregnancy especially when my periods started again.

I find Diclofenac helpful to relieve the pain so can do some exercises and saw an orthopoedic surgeon who does a lot of treatmentr for prolonged SPD. I got steroids injected into the joints which helped a lot but was only temporary so I could actually do physio exercises.

Unfortunately no magic cure!

Oh, physio really needs to specialise in "womens health" or may not be much help.

Tillyscoutsmum · 05/01/2010 21:14

I agree about getting the right physio - the one I had specialised in spd/pgp and was brilliant. I had three sessions and was "cured" (after having 6 with a NHS one who didn't help at all). The Pelvic Pain Partnership website can recommend ones (or I'd be happy to email/CAT details of mine if you're anywhere near Midlands/South West)

I can recommend a good physio and orthopaedic surgeon in the Cardiff/Newport area if that's any use to you?

I've had pysio for nearly a year and my pubic symphysis pain is all but gone and
I've not long had my SI joint injected and it seems to have given some good relief - fingers crossed it lasts.

Thank you- Im in Yorkshire so a bit far for your physio (but Im pretty fed up with it ......and 'cured' you say so maybe.....) but I will have a look at the website you recommend. Thanks

God it's hideous isn't it.
I had specialist pilates with a physio which helped enormously. Where are you? as maybe someone can recommend one near you.
Has anything happened to mess around with your hormones at the moment? eg. stopping bf, just gone on the pill, periods just re-started, anything like that? As that can cause a blip. Just wondered as you said it "was back".

whelk · 05/01/2010 21:32

Yes - dd has reduced bf-ing to 4 feeds a day as now established on solids.
Would that affect it? Will it get worse when I cut down to 2 feeds when I go back to work v soon (can you detect the panic in my voice?)

My personal experience was that stopping bf caused a blip and then after that I was much better. (Twinges when my period is due but nothing agonising). So don't panic.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 05/01/2010 21:49

Mine improved once I'd stopped bf, but does twinge more (good word!) with every period.

Rosesinautumn · 05/01/2010 21:56

An osteopath sorted mine out for me in a couple of session's and miraculously it has been minimal during this pregnancy (38 weeks and can roll over in bed and get up off the floor without it reducing me to tears - same can't be said for my previous two pregnancy's). There is hope.

whelk · 06/01/2010 16:15

Wow roses that is so encouraging. My spd is one big reason why there won't be a number three (at least I don't think). Was it a specialist osteopath?
