DD is having this done on Monday and I am already feeling disturbed about her inevitable reaction.
She has not one but a cluster of about 6- has anyone had it done?

I did DIY freezing on dd's verrucaes many moons ago and she did shoot through the ceiling.

I leave veruucas now, just pumice them and they seem to drop out of their own accord.

Dillie · 02/01/2010 20:53

Duct tape works wonders apparently .. havent tried it as "touch wood" i havent had any, but mum swears by it.

You need to leave it in place for a while (dunno how long, but i am sure its on the net somewhere) and they die off then they are pulled out with the tape (tmi)

CybilsDrivel · 02/01/2010 20:54

Ooohh when a verrucae comes out..theres not much in the world more satisfying to see than that

GothDetective · 02/01/2010 20:54

I had it done as a kid (primary school age), it took weeks for it to go.

I rememebr it being very uncomfortable and I didn't like it but it was bearable. Don't think I cried so can't have been too bad.

CybilsDrivel · 02/01/2010 20:55

Ohh it looks like the enormous turnip being pulled out of the ground

JustKeepSparkling · 02/01/2010 20:57

I have the Mother of all verrucas and have tried everything. Keep thinking it's on the way out so would love to know what a 'dead' one looks like!

CarrotForKing · 02/01/2010 20:57

Glee - can you check msn please

Beauregard · 02/01/2010 20:57

It hurts a lot

I had a community of verrucas that lived on the upper ball of my foot for about 11 years.
In the end despite the pain i just put up with them and eventually when i got pregnant i woke up and they had gone.

CybilsDrivel · 02/01/2010 20:58

Just keep it will start to lift around the edges. keep pumicing it to get all dead skin off.

JustKeepSparkling · 02/01/2010 20:59

Cybil - with every treatment it starts to lift up, so i think it's on the way out, then it 'grows' again.

deaddei · 02/01/2010 21:01

Maybe I'll wait till she's pregnant pelvicfloornomore- about 25 years hopefully!

I take it you are taking her to chiropodist to hve it frozen? It should be fine...says she who has left dd's on the end of her toe for a while and is hoping it will eventually go as the others say thats the thing to do now - not treat them

Hulababy · 02/01/2010 21:05

7y DD has one on each foot - got them after her first day back at swimming in September. I have never had one, and neither me or DH have caught them off DD. This is her first time.

They are now almost completely black.

I am hoping they will somehow just go.

GleeE4 · 02/01/2010 21:08

my chirop said just leave em

CybilsDrivel · 02/01/2010 21:09

I say leave them too.

Hulababy · 02/01/2010 21:12

Is it normal for them to go black all over?

deaddei · 02/01/2010 21:12

Chiropodist suggests freezing them- they're painful, and in a very funny place- her 4th toe.
Well, we shall see on Monday. She is 13, not 3, but prone to being a drama queen.

I had a few plus a huge one for years and went to a chiropodist (after freezing didn't work)and she recommended a doctor in a private hospital could treat them for about £200. Was casually talking about it at work when one of my colleagues suggested banana skins. He said he had the same problem and what he did was tape a banana skin to it for a few days and low and behold it was gone. I didn't fancy having it 24/7 so just had it on through the night for about a week and it worked wonders.

I just used the big plasters you get on a roll and taped the the banana skin to the verucca so the inside of the skin was against it and put on an old sock. Give it a going over with a pumice stone afterwards.

I also remember having warts frozen off my fingers when I was younger......try the banana thing first.

If you do a search you will find some more detials about it.

Ivykaty44 · 02/01/2010 22:39

potassium is used to treat veruccas, also found in bananas - easier to just buy some potassium? It comes in little jars from the chemist

Thandeka · 03/01/2010 13:08

duct tape is also supposed to work (google it).

I had mine frozen off at the docs- didnt hurt in the slightest (and I am a wuss and was expecting it too- my doc is fab though)- took about 3 trips to get them completely gone but I had 4 clusters in diff locations on my feet.
