My db has admitted to hospital yesterday with a collapsed lung. He's had a drain fitted was justt wondering if anyone could give me some sort of timespan that he will be in hospital for. I know it varies from person to person etc but need to have an idea so i dont start panicing unnecessarily.
TIA

It defo does vary.
Quite common this collapsed lung thing and easily treated.
Quite uncomfortable and restrictive as he wont be able to hop out of bed to nip to the loo and stuff so take him some mags and stuff to keep him occupied.

Wouldnt panic either, he will be fine

sorry me again, you dont ssy if it is a spontaneous collapse or as a result of trauma to the chest??

shelleylou · 02/01/2010 10:46

it was sponataneous. He was perfectly fine New years even , woke up and was ok then started getting pains etc. Rationally i know its treatable just want to be able to put the irrational thoughts aside and keep them at bay. Scared of losing him as lost my other brother a few months ago. Im going to take him some stuff up when I go later, havent seen him yet as couldnt get a babysitter yesterday and dont want DS to see his uncle like that and he'll clamber all over him given the chance

ahh love, no wonder you are worried

I stand by previous post, he will be fine happens allot to perfectly fit healthy folk, scary but easily treatable.
i would expect him to be in for a few days yet, maybe a week.

what a way to start the new year lol. I know deep down he will be fine. He's young fit and healthy so no reason not to be. Just have moments of irrational fear. Going to take him some mags as you suggested, biscuits ive got in that he loves some drink etc. I know my mum will probably take him some bits up but means hes got plenty.
