Weight loss - not sure if I should be concerned or not

I am 5 foot 4 and pre children used to weigh between about 8 and 9 stone. Was 9 stone before I got pg with DS (who is 6). Put on lots of weight in each pregnancy although it all came off between pregnancies. After DD I found my weight went up when she was about a year old (she is 4.3) and in April this year I was about 10.5 stone which I wasn't really feeling great about.

Started going running and found weight was gradually coming off. In about September we had various crises which made my appetite go and I also decided to stop eating as many sweets and chocolate as I used to. Combination of these seem to have kick started some weight loss and it has been coming off ever since.

Weighed myself today and I was about 8.5 stone which is the lightest I have been for years. I don't think I look unwell at all - and my clothes fit better and I feel well. There is just something about having lost 2 stone which is nearly 20% of me in April in 8 months that feels a little odd.

The other thing is that I have recently come off Anti Depressants which I think can make weight increase so that could be a factor as well.

I know I have a "problem" lots of people would love but do feel slightly uneasy. Suppose I might go to the doctors some time next year.

Anyone else got any experience of this sort of thing?

8.5 stone for 5ft4 sounds like a healthy weight to me - have you checked your BMI to see where it sits?

I think you have reasonable explanations for your weight loss - the running, loss of appetite and coming off ADs would all be good explanations.

Personally, since you've come back to your earlier (I assume healthy-feeling?) weight, I wouldn't worry about it. But maybe keep an eye on it over the next couple of months and see if it continues?

You're probably down to your 'natural' weight. 8st 4 sounds healthy. Maybe if it gets lower you could get your thyroid checked.

Your weight sounds fine- I weigh less than you- 7st 12lb and am 5'3" - and I need to lose 4lbs round my waist!

Anti ds can make you crave sugar so it is possible that your weight gain was down to those too.

you sound fine.If your BMI is okay- between 18.5 and 25 then you are a healthy weight.

Thank you for the thoughts. I agree that my weight is fine (i was overweight before which I didn't like).

I think it's the way the weight keeps falling off which bothers me - it stays the same for a couple of weeks and then more comes off. Shall see what a Christmas season of much eating and drinking does

If you are feeling good, then I'd think it was fine.

I found regular excercise and cutting down on the goodies made a HUGE difference to my weight. It plataued after a bit for me, but I did lose far more than I imagined. It bablaces your appetite as well as all the other good things it does!

I am up the duff now again though, so will soon be a tubster again.

Just to give you my experience from weightloss s antidepressants and weight issues do ring a bell... After my children were born, my weight came down and I was about 10kg lighter than I had ever been. Together with anxiety and shaking hands, it turned out that I had overactive thyroid. I am freaking out because this could have harmed the babies during pregnancy and went completely unnoticed by midwifes and my GP If you feel any other symptoms, go to see you your GP and insist that they take blood test to check your thyroid..
