For just over a week now i have had an awful cough, really really chesty and have felt an odd rattling in my chest but cant feel it today, the cough has been so bad it has had me retching over the toilet. Last week we were at center parcs and going outside made it awful so tried to keep in as much as poss. Having a shower kicks it off too. My ribs really hurt as does my back, alot. Im guessing because of the coughing. My nose is fine, not running or anything, temp before taking anything was 37.3 so nothing major. Bizarely yesterday morning i was very sick, but dont feel sick today..

go to your gp and get it checked. Chest infections are horrible and make you feel really miserable. It nhurts like hell when you cough and if you're having ribs and back pain I would suggest it might be a chest infection.
I'm not a medical professional but I have had a couple of nasty chest infections in the past.
Get yourself checked out to be on the safe side and here's to a speedy recovery!

yes - sounds like you have a chest infection. I would get it sorted and onto the anti biotics before it turns into pneumonia.

even though the rattle noise i cant feel anymore?

watch the ribs thing, I pulled something horrendous after a week of severe coughing and flu and it took months to heal

when i was a teenager i got flu and went to doc just because my ribs were soooooo painful. id basically cracked a rib!! I have a lump you can feel at the top!

I guess i should go, just got to wait till they re open and dreading driving on the icy roads and no one around to have the ds's.

you need to go, even if it means a trek out with the kids.
If it is a chest infection, which it sounds like, you really need to get it sorted (especially with Christmas coming up and surgery hours different during the bank hols) as you don't want to develop any complications and the sooner you can get the antibiotics to kick in the sooner you will start to feel some relief from the pain.

agree with display. get seen today if possible, you don't want to be ill and have to rely on out of hours provision over Xmas. When I had a chest infection last year my main symptom other than the cough was backache - I wasn't aware of any temperature or rattle.

have got one booked for later. They said the road up to the docs is a nightmare (big hill) no other way to go so will be deserting the car at some point and cant walk all the way!

oh dear, good luck with getting there and hope the gp can sort things out for you to feel much better by Christmas!
