Out damned spots!

I am covered in them atm. From my cheekbones right down to the side of my chin. Can't go out unless covered in an inch of concealer and foundation. Horrible little sore spots that don't come to a head. I've had them for a few weeks now and when one heals up another arrives. Am so fed up. Lines and spots .

I am wondering if it is true that stress can cause spots. I can't think of anything else that could be responsible atm.

Hormones, damn them!

Stress won't help - how's your diet at the moment?

I have two horrible lumps at the moment, one on either side of my chin. At least they're symmetrical.

Sunshine is the only thing that really seems to help me - which is a bit tricky at this time of the year. The other thing that seems to keep them at bay is if I use Clearasil wipes each morning/evening - I'm out of the routine at the moment, but they definitely helped when I was doing that.

Otherwise, you can have laser treatment which is supposed to help, especially if you get any scarring. I've had a couple of sessions, probably should have a bit more.

Diet is Ok santa. I eat loads of fruit and veg. Not much sugary processed food. Not drinking too much water atm - I seem to have got out of the habit. Will try to drink more.

I have had more of them since I started this pre-menopause nonsense but this is appalling.

Vichy Normaderm is wonderful - most pharmacists will give you a trial set of it for free (lloyds always have them).

Can I suggest mineral make up too if you want to cover them? Normal make up just makes it worse.

OrmIrian · 16/12/2009 12:55

Thanks show. I will try that. Am about to go into town. I did give mineral make-up a go but it seemed to make my somewhat ageing skin look like leather - emphasised the lines.

i've had more spots lately than during ym whole teenage years lol. Im sure its down to stress bought some quinoderm from the pharmasits. £3.50 for 150mls its helping clear them up really well

OrmIrian - On top of the vichy moiusturiser mineral make up looks amazing. Also what brand did you use?

passmyglassplease · 16/12/2009 14:09

I don't normally suffer from spots but thanks to a number of factors including the pill and high stress levels I was sporting some real craters

I was so fed up that I decided to visit a Chinese herbalist, and here I am 3 weeks later zit free, yeah.

It wasn't cheap but it I "was worth it"

OrmIrian · 16/12/2009 15:42

I can't remember but it was in a translucent pot with it's own little brush.

Orm, have you been to the GP? There are some really good treatments around now and they'll probably work better than anything you can get over the counter. I know it can feel a little like you're moaning about nothing and taking up the doctor's time, but having bad skin can really knock your confidence and make you feel bad about yourself. My drs have always been very helpful - at least they can talk you through the options and give you an idea of what might work. Treatments have moved on a lot over the last couple of years - I have had bad skin since the age of about 14 and would still have it now, in my late 20s, if I had never gone to the dr about it. I tried clearasil, chinese herbal medicine, the lot, but they never made much difference.

steamedxmaspudding · 16/12/2009 15:57

Oh, and on the make-up front - Laura Mercier secret camouflage, creme foundation on top, and then mineral powder. If you don't put too much make-up on the middle of your face you won't look caked, even wearing all that.

Is a bit more expensive than going to the Dr though!

Good luck

I have to see the GP about my various other prescriptions atm I could ask him. What's the worst he can say?
