DH cut his thumb on glass about a month ago and now getting pins and needles all up his arm

It was a pretty nasty cut - he was working, clearing some weeds from behind a drainpipe (in the car park of the social club) and cut his thumb on some broken glass behind there. It was a good week before it started to heal. It looks like it has healed over now, but he keeps getting this pins and needles sensation all up his arm. It happens when he lifts his arm up, ie to drive and I think it's getting quite uncomfortable.

Should he see a doctor? He's not one for going to the doctors generally, and he thinks he's damaged a nerve and it'll just go away, but I'm not so sure. Any thoughts? TIA

I did that! i cut my thumb open, it took forever to heal and was numb for aaaaaaages afterwards, and then i kept getting pins and needles, but it's fine now!

i asked my friend about it, she's a nurse, and she said it was ok

My Dad got a tiny fragment of metal in his thumb and eventually he got blood poisoning.

If your DH gets a sudden fever or feeling very ill or his arm goes hard/solid feeling in the muscle then get him to A&E without delay and tell them about the cut.

However, I also cut my thumb right the first joint is on a broken wine glass and it bled a lot. I suffered that kind of 'nerve pain' for quite a while in a similar way as your DH. It hurt and tingled for about 3 months and genuinely thought I still had glass stuck in it.

Since it was a few weeks ago, it prob is temporary nerve damage, but maybe get it checked out just in case. Is there a walk-in clinic nearby?

near-ish. I tried to get him to call the triage nurse at the dr - they're usually very good, but he is a pita when it comes to calling/seeing the dr. The other night we had a message to call the surgery - he was like 'oh, I'll do it later' so i just called and handed him the phone. They only wanted him to make a swine flu jab appointment!
