pelvic floor aides - recommended on the TV programme earlier this year

There was a Channel 4 (I think) programme earlier this year I think called 'something something something sex', presented by a very down to earth lady whose name I cannot remember but she had long dark hair (this description is pants isn't it?)
Anyway, on one of the episodes she (and some other women) tested some aides that helped pelvic floor. One of them came out really well but I cant remember what it was, who it was made by or anything.

Anyone remember what it is I'm going on about?
TIA

I think it was the cones on Embarrassing Bodies.

voila

hohoholepew · 10/12/2009 17:56

I got cones from the continence nurse to use after having DD2. The biggest one fell out and broke my toe.

I was quite disheartened.

thanks guys but it wasn't the Embarrassing Bodies programme. It was one where there was just one presenter who investigated different things each week, one week it was rugby players discussing condoms I think (similar to Embarrassing Bodies I agree), another week the lady learnt about tantric sex, one week I think it was sexy underwear and so on and so on.

I have one of these www.pelvictoner.co.uk/ - not sure if it's the one you mean but I think it is pretty good

mckenzie · 14/12/2009 19:18

thank you Wordgirl but I'm looking for the one that you put in an leave (if my memory serves me right), not one you have to lie still to use.

The only things I know of are cones and a kind of 2-pronged thingy with a spring in the middle which you have to squeeze.

TBH you are just as well off doing the ordinary PF exercises- but you have to do 40-50 a day for 3 months.

which reminds me,,,squeeze, squeeze.....

janek · 14/12/2009 20:02

i remember!!!

janek · 14/12/2009 20:06

they tested 3 things.

  1. an electric shock kind of machine, which you could wear all the time and go about your womanly business - kind of passive exercise. this worked.
  1. a kind of v-shaped resistance thing that you did your pelvic floor exercises 'against'. this didn't work.
  1. some kind of cones/weights/dunno that you then had to clasp with all your might to prevent them from falling out. this worked.

but it wasn't very scientific because as far as i recall they only got one person to try each thing.

can't remember what the programme was called though, nor the name of the presenter.

purplepeony · 14/12/2009 20:16

The V shape - which is what I meant by the prongs- wouldn't work, as it only makes you squeeze, not squeeze and LIFT- pulling up.

mckenzie · 14/12/2009 21:10

thanks very much guys - off to do some more web searching.

This programme?

mckenzie · 14/12/2009 22:12

I thought it was that programme Springy but I've checked out all the episodes on that link and it doesn't mention PF at all.

yeah, it was that programme. it was longer ago than 'earlier this year' though, cos i was still pregnant with DD2, who is now 13 months. yet more proof that time flies...
