I'm booked in for this afternoon. Am feeling excited but a little nervous.

Anyone had this done? Any advice/comments greatly appreciated.

How was it then? I keep thinking about getting this done but am terrified!

Groovychic · 11/12/2009 10:26

The procedure itself is not painful just uncomfortable. Took less then 15 mins.

I was really nervous and scared beforehand. Had thought about doing it for year or so.

I had the Lasik wavefront with intralase treatment. My eyes were quite bad before so very pleased witht he result so far.

what was your prescription? I'm really short-sighted and have been thinking about this for about 15 years!! I made the mistake of watching one performed on TV years ago and it looked barbaric - has put me off ever since!

I'm soooooo jealous Groovychic! I can't afford it myself and also the optician said I was outwith the prescription so can't get it done. Well done you! I hope it's as brilliant as I imagine it would be

I'm back from my check up. Optom said everything is healing well. Right eye is now 20/20 but my left eye is 2 lines under 20/20 so hopefully that will improve in the next few weeks.

Apparently, I'm ok to drive now.

I move, My left eye was originally -7.00, right eye was -5.75 both eyes with -3.00 astigmatism.

Calyx, technology is improving all the time so maybe your prescription is treatable now. My surgeon specialises in higher prescriptions so I think it's just a case of finding the right surgeon for you. Also, I manage to knock £990 off the price and am paying over 3 yrs interest free so it's my be possible for you.

Groovychic, oh that's great news. I was worried at -5.00 it would be too bad! Think it's worse than that now too, so you've given me hope!

Where did you go to have it done? (needs recommendations!)

Groovychic · 11/12/2009 15:36

I had treatment with Dr Paul Cherry at Ultralase. He only works in Guildford?? and Hammersmith though.

I did also go for a consultation with Optimax at Ficnhley Rd but didn't really find them that professional although they were a lot cheaper.
