Wondering if anyone can help? Cracking, sore and itchy nipple??

One of my nipples is very sore and cracking, then itches like crazy and the skin peels off (lovely I know). This has been happening over and over again for a few weeks now.

Anyone have a clue what is going on? The other nipple is fine and totally normal. It is just one of them.

Thanks x

Sounds like thrush. Mostly happens when breastfeeding, I think, but could happen to any nipple I suppose.

I am not brestfeeding. Stopped over a year ago. I didn't know you could get thrush on your nipple. How does that happen?

could be eczema- try otc hydrocortisone or see your GP.

MeltedTreeChocolates · 08/12/2009 13:16

I have that here actually. I may well go to the gp cos stupidly i looked up the symptoms on the internet and found a few other, more scary things it could be.... now I have just worried myself....

Eczema can be linked with cancer, but as an eczema sufferer I have had what you describe nad it always cleared up with a dab of cream.

I have put on E45 and that didn't make a difference. Would it?

I have never had eczema, never been prone to anything like that. Is it likley to just randomly start?

might do- might be if you are hot and sweaty etc?

E45 won't help- you need the hydrocortisone.

Go to your GP if you are worried but I am sure it is nothing serious.

Sorry melted, I thought I'd replied again last night.Thrush likes warm, moist areas. Even if you're not breastfeeding, you could still get it. Definitely see the GP.
