What could this be? Spotting and pains etc. bit graphic.

Have made an appt with GP for next week, but am curious as to whether anyone else has had this or anything similar.

I have an irregular cycle and have been having really heavy periods since I had DS 2.5 years ago. I am anaemic as a result.

Now this bit is a bit TMI - each month I pass bits of tissue - not clots, although those too, but every month I can tell when the period is nearly over as I pass a piece of tissue that is the same shape and size everytime and is very distinctive, like a partial uterine cast.

Also, around ovulation time I've been spotting slightly, but with an increasing tendency to spot at random times for eg after going for a run.

For the last couple of months I have experienced excruciating cramps similar to ovulation pain but so bad that I have to lie down and wait for the pain to subside.

Yesterday it happened in town and I had to go and sit on a tramps bench and call DH to come and pick me up as I couldn't walk. The pain was so bad I felt I might vomit. However, it subsided within about half an hour, and I have had a very light bloody discharge (red) for about 12 hours afterwards. I calculate this to be day 20 of an approximate 31 day cycle.

I think it is happening every other month, which makes me think I could be a problem with one ovary/tube?

I am up to date with smears - though due one in 6 month. Everything has been fine so far.

I am definitely not pg, not on any contraceptives.

bumping for you.
might be an ovarian cyst or uterine polyp, or just low hormone levels. Hope you are ok.

I would be asking the GP for a referral to a gynae for further evaluation. Do not let the GP try and deal with all these issues, you need to see a gynae.

The tissue passing could be indicative of endometriosis as is the pain felt during that time. It can cause pains similar to those you describe (I have endo and what you wrote re the pain certainly struck a chord with me). Spotting in any event needs to be investigated further to ascertain the cause.

Ah, OK thanks. I was wondering about endo. I will ask for a referral to a gynae then. I was wondering what the doc would or could do, but I guess they would either refer me to one or send me away and wait for me to come back when it gets worse...
