Celvapan - one jab or two!?

Am pg and asthmatic and at last been given the option of having celvapan tomorrow.

Just wondered if anyone had any idea of the following:

  1. Is it definitely 2 shots of celvapan needed to give immunity as I know there was some uhmming and ahhing initially as to whether 2 was necessary?

  2. I ask the above because am having the first shot tomorrow but then will not be around for the follow up 2nd jab as it is on 23rd Dec and am away. Doctor/receptionise said that it would be better than nothing (as guess it will trigger some immune response) and that can come back in Jan for second dose and that it had to be at least 3 weeks between the two doses so shouldn't matter if longer. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas/could shed any light on if this is the case?

Thanks in advance! Can't wait not to have to worry about SF/vaccine etc anymore!!!

we've been told two for under 12s but only one for adults and teens. dd1 due her booster next week.
i was told that had to be at least 3 weeks apart but could be done more than 3 weeks of necessary.

That's great Olivo. Just wanted some reassurance that by having it more than 3 weeks apart wont prevent it working and that one jab is better than none! Thank you.

Does anyone have any further info on this? Can anyone who's had Celvapan say whether it's one or two shots now? And whether the first shot gives you any kind of immunity at all?

I'm booked in for Celvapan jab on Monday, but am feeling crappy today, and someone at work has just been sent home with Swine Flu (am trying v. hard not to panic)...

I had to fight so hard to get Celvapan in the first place, I'll be gutted if it turns out to be too late and I've got SF now anyway.

Any reasurance or info gratefully received!

my dd had the first shot about four weeks ago and we've been called back for another. i haven't got around to it yet. i bet it's going to be after christmas now.

i think it does give immunity. because my asthmatic dd had dose one of celvapan, and then the whole rest of the family got something that MIGHT have been sf. but she did not. i thought it wasn't sf because it wsn't severe enough, but now i hear that not all sf is severe. it doesn't necessarily put you to bed ofr a week. so deduce from that what you will (maybe nothing!)

josie22, they shouldn't give you your follow up jab until at least the 15th of jan!!

Does anyone have any updated info on this? I've been told I don't need a 2nd jab, however my friend who attends a surgery less than a mile away has been called for her 2nd. It rather seems like the doctors are just making it up as they go along - can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks! x
