Scant period - is this normal?

My periods are usually short but very heavy but this month my period has been ultra light. This has never happened before ever.

I am mid 40s could it be start of menopause?

Had sex (with protection) seven days before period - so would be unlikely to be pregnant I hope?

Any ideas

bumping this in case anyone has any ideas - in actual fact it would be lovely if periods were now as light as this but I am slightly worried that something is wrong and of course surely I couldn't be pregnant having sex that late in cycle.

I used my cap which of course is not 100% safe!!

Did you ovulate last month?
I always find my period's lighter when I haven't ovulated, I'm 43 and seem to only be ovulating every other month atm.

Well I thought I did.

My boobs have also been tender and painful - not so much today but still a bit and it also seemed that after the scant period I had ovulation pains - that's on day 5 btw.

So maybe my cycle is going haywire.

I just hope not pg.

Just updating in case anyone has any ideas?

It felt like I ovulated on day 5 of the scant period, now I'm on day 15 and have started bleeding.

Bit worried will watch and wait to see how it goes on!

Hi
Bit confused- have you had a period or not?

Are you saying you are bleeding 15 days after your last period?

First thing first- cap is not 100% effective so you should do a pg test to be s ure- go on, buy one!

secondly- in your mid 40s your periods could be starting to go haywire.

Mine were scant much later- early 50s - when I could get away with panty liners. In my late 40s they tended to be stop and start through the bleed- say 2 heavy days, 1 no bleed, then 2 lighter days.

However, I didn't miss a period at all until around 52 and had my last at 53.

If I were you, I'd do the pg test then keep arecord of what is going on for a few months, assuming there is no DC on the way!

Yes had a very light period (which is unheard of for me) on 26 November - very light bleeding for about 4 days. Then day 5 had pains which were like ovulation pains.

Then two weeks after light period on the 10th Dec I started bleeding again - this is more like my usual period and is quite heavy but obviously completely out of sync with usual 28 day cycle.

This has never happened before - although earlier on this year my period was 5 days late and in that month it also felt like a double ovulation ie I ovulated once and then again a few days later the late period then followed 14-16 ays after that. I get pains when I ovulate so can be fairly sure when it is.

Other than that regular as clockwork. I have got fibroids.

any chance you could have been pregnant before the 26/11- which could make your current period a miscarriage, and earlier, light bleeding break through bleeding?

If you are 44+ I'd say peri-moneo- your body could be popping out loads of eggs at all odd times as it runs out of them!

Just don't rely on any kind of "safe period" re. sex.

a very slim chance only. Yes that thought had crossed my mind too.

Hmmm interesting
