Has anyone gone to A&E with a gallstone flare up?

And if so, what did they do? Did they operate there and then, or just refer you for later treatment?

I am currently having a very painful flare up, complicated by the fact that I'm almost 10 weeks pregnant.

Just trying to decide whether to wait and see my GP tomorrow, or go to A&E today.

I had my gallbladder removed by keyhole 5 years ago. I had 2 severe attacks - both times ended up in A&E thinking I was having a heart attack, which was terrifying. I was treated with anti-spasmodics and morphine while in A&E and referred to a surgeon after the first attack.

I had no problems after surgery, other than I tried to do too much too soon and ended up having 3 weeks off rather than the 2 weeks my surgeon originally suggested.

I did alter my diet while waiting for surgery, I cut out fatty and spicy foods which helped. I was just beginning fertility treatment at the time and was told to stop but went on to have DD with no problems (other than the fertility issues!).

Hope you get sorted soon.

Every time I have a flare up I go to A and E tgen send me home with tramadol which spaces me out nothing else. I've got a flare up now first proper one within a year it's clickety had it on off since last Friday but I end up having to take antibiotics because I leave it to long all I can say is I got a high pain tolerance but this is beyond and it usually only settles within quite a few days for me, it's a vicious circle I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy tbh.
