TMI but I have found a trigger for my IBS

After months of no fizzy drinks I had some Sprite last weekend which triggered a major attack of IBS - none again until yesterday when I had another glass.....major attack

Now I thought they were a trigger & I had cut down to just the more simple ingredient ones Sprite/7up/coke/pepsi & I only had them occasionally (in pubs/restaurants)

So now I need to find something fairly additive free that I can drink when I'm out......so far I have water (juice is bad too)

Could you have Fizzy Sado water or is it all fizzy things?
Maybe a Pure juice would be ok for you?

Soda

Perfect excuse to only have booze!

Tonic with ice and lime is nice and has a grown up non sickly taste

Juice has always been a problem even before my IBS was diagnosed

I am teetotal because I have ME/CFS & alcohol makes me very ill

& unfortunately Noddy - I like sweet drinks - at home I alternate between a peach drink (that has lots of sugar in but seems OK) & very sweet tea

I will have to try bubbles & no sugar

I have IBS and find most fizzy drinks a problem apart from the Pret a Manger range of natural fizzy drinks - have you tried them before? They have no additives or preservatives.

Katymac · 28/11/2009 10:17

No but I will have a look (if I ever find a pret a manger)

Sorry to hear that, Noddy, either way ouch

Katymac, I am also teetotal and get heeartburn with too sweet/fizzy drinks - how about either teeny bit of lime cordial (you don't need much) with fizzy water, or still; teeny amount of ginger and lemongrass cordial (really yummy) or elderflower and pomegranite with still or fizzy water; slimline tonic; sugar-free cordial with fizzy water...?

As you can tell, I have spent many years experimenting with grown-up feeling non alcoholic drinks
