Toenails (Gasp!)

thanks for stopping by, not that attractive a thread title. My 18 mth old ds has always had strange toenails; they grow very slowly and seem to curve steeply so dig into his toes (too thin to damage his toes, but look a bit sore when cut, after short wrestle with him). His big toesnails are really short at the sides; hard to explain but as if they are crescent shaped so have these tiny corners. I am worried they are ingrowing (I haven't cut them btw). He doesn't like me doing anything to them, but appears more ticklish than sore. Any thoughts? Should I bother disdainful GP?

My ds aged 3 has toenails that curve into his toe at the end and I have to wrestle him to cut them. They don't appear to be hurting him though.
tbh unless you think they are hurting him then I wouldn't bother gp.
Can you check with a health visitor?

my ds has always had toe nails like this too

ds(7) has toe nails like this. I just keep them short.

DD had nails like this when she was born, it took a few baths for them to start lifting away from the skin and now they look like normal nails. I'm sure if I let them grow they'd look the same. If it is a struggle you should do it every few nights when he's sleeping, keeping them short will be easier than struggling to cut long ones every once in a while IYSWIM?

good idea Hell (if I may call you that?). Doing them when he is asleep when they need it is a good idea. I don't mind the struggle, just worried they are painful/deformed, but sounds like not from what you'va all said. Thanks!

Calling me Hell is fine I started doing this when they were babies but still do this with DD(3) and DS(5) it is soo much easier!
