Hi there, My ds who is 3.8yrs old, has to have his tonsils and adneoids, and probably more grommets put back into his ears. Can anyone tell me how their children found the surgery?? My DS is going in the night before, and being monitored to see how severe his obstructed breathing is. Many thanks.

Bagpipes, my son (4 1/2 at the time) had this done last year for the same reason. It's made such a difference!

I asked about it last year here . Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks JJ - Really appreciated all your help. Interesting to read about the coughing up blood - I am really hoping this will stop his apnea, and his wondering round the house in the wee hours!! Thanks again - will let you know when its all over!!

Just be prepared for the first few nights after he's recovered. He'll be sleeping soundlessly and soundly and longer than usual. It's a little scary (we checked him constantly!), but that's how kids are supposed to sleep. Really, the operation was a huge success. I've been trying to remember what it was like after we got home, but can't -- so it probably wasn't bad at all. Hope it goes as well for you.

We had exactly the same thing with our DD1 2 years ago. After the operation I was obsessed with checking if she was still breathing - she was sooooo quiet LOL!

The difference in her is remarkable - bags more energy during the day after a good night's sleep.

She was a bit groggy for the rest of the day after the op (understandably!), we came home the next day and she was wanting to go out into the garden to ride her bike the day after that!

The morning after the op. she was sitting up eating apricot jam sandwiches for breakfast - her recovery was a vast difference from DH's when he had the same op. last year and for exactly the same reason !

We are waiting to hear now about DD2 (3.5) as she is suffering from the same problem.

Hope all goes well
