Have a thread on suspected all sorts (crohns, colitis, celiac)further down and have been advised to for the time being (by my gastroenterologist) be on an ibs style diet.

Ive cut wheat & dairy and also red meat, so my system can digest things easier. Its also suggested on my worksheet to cut foods that easily ferment in the body like cabbage, onions , beans, garlic and veg that needs boiling.

Ive got a list being compiled and have bought various things to make lunches and dinners, but Im stuck on breakfast. I read that yolks are a no go and I really dont fancy the whites alone, bluerghh!

I used to eat everything and anything and Im finding it really tough and need some help to keep staying positive. Every web site discusses what you cant eat & I find that less than helpful in a way.

Ive found this web site which is a tad more informative and has a menu plan with links to recipes at the bottom, but some of the things in the recipes are a no go on other lists on other sites!!

Its like a crazy minefield! Whats equally difficult is that Im rapidly loosing weight and need to bulk up a bit.

don't think of it as breakfast - eat lunchy things then, nice salads, perhaps rollmop herrings like the Danish do for breakfast.?

Rye bread?
Goat's milk butter (easier to digest?)

I agree that you just need to think of it as another meal.

Can you eat avocados? How about avocados on Rye toast?

Kedgeree (without the onions) (which freezes well, I've found)

Rice pudding made with rice milk with yummy golden syrup!

Mushroom omelettes.

Forgot to mention that I currently have vasculitis and many sore lumps/ulcers in my mouth, so I have to leave out anything sour or strong.

Oh I LOVE herring laurie , drool!! Would the vinegar be to astringent (leaving the mouth problem aside)?

Hadnt thought to eat avocados for brek! You are right its just seeing it differently.

Ive not been able to find rye bread that didnt have wheat in it. Waitrose?

Kedgeree's is a good idea,I make that for dinner normally. Do I have to make it without the curry/turmeric powder? Im so in need of flavour , but my body doesnt like it! How to get it without onions etc?!

Mind you it doesn't like anything I ingest right now!

Great to get some more ideas, I so need some variety.

Not sure why yolks are a no no?? They are more nutritious than whites after all.
Pancakes, best if home-made, I make mine with gluten-free flour, ground nuts & seeds & whizz up raisins/dates/prunes, cinamon + egg into the mix. Also, you could check up on celiac sites for more recipe ideas.
I am normally gluten-free and react to wheat, but one standard bread that I have no problems with is Waitrose slow-fermented rye & wheat, it comes in sliced quarters. I think fermenting process breaks down gluten to digestible for me, but wouldn't give it to my ds and I only have it when he is away.
Also, tinned sardines or similar, I love herring too and you can have kippers.

Can you eat fruit? maybe you could make the millet flakes a bit more interesting with some soaked dried, or fresh fruit. My sister is on this kind of diet (for IBS) she uses soya products (the yogurts are not too bad), she has been feeling quite a bit better on the diet, - hope it helps you.

Most supermarkets do a range of gluten/wheat free breads. I avoid wheat myself and am avoiding dairy and egg because of DD (and am bfing her). In Waitrose I can get a DS bread that is free from all of these. Then I use Pure Sunflower spread on it when it's toasted. You can eat cornflakes - they are gluten free, but most brands do contain sugar. Soya yoghurts as suggested by others - either plain with fruit, honey, nuts or seeds added if you like, or the fruit varieties. Soya is quite allergenic though, so maybe you can't have that either? Check out the free from section of your supermarket. Most (especially Waitrose) sell Rossisky rye bread, which has no wheat or yeast in it, but rye is glutinous. HTH

Melsey, if you are on a gluten-free diet, rye bread is out (oats, wheat, rye and barley).

You can buy rice ceral (non-baby of course!) and make that up with water and maple syrup or honey as a substitute for a hot breakfast such as oats.

Maybe treat yourself to some gluten-free bread as a present Not the same, but when you crave bread, it's not necessarily bad. I used to get it as a Christmas/birthday treat when I was put on a gluten-free diet for 3-4 years.
