Should I give her the Tamiflu?

Yesterday when I sent DD2 off to nursery she had a bit of a cough. When we got home she had a high temp and her nose was streaming.

The symtpom checker thing came back with a ref number and recommended she take a course of tamiflu.

The only time I could get it was after she was in bed so I did.

Anyway, this morning her temp is normal, her nose has dried up but she's still coughing.

Do I give her the Tamiflu or not?

tamiflu is to help them get better faster and to help minimise complications. If shes not taken any yet and she is getting better with out it then I'd question the need. But I am not medical at all and only giving my opinion

Sounds like my DD earlier this week. Cough, temp, running nose. Cleared up quickly (though still a bit of a residual cough).

Definitely not swine flu, though I am sure if I did the online checker they would have given me a prescription for Tamiflu

They say its Swine Flu if yo have high temp & 2 symptoms. Myself and whole family have had Swine Flu now for 9 days - have all had Tamiflu (you don't even have to pay perscription costs)and most of the Swineflu symptoms at one time or another over the last week. Today was my turn for runs and puking + high temp. Thank heavens for 'flu friend' neighbours, who collected meds - brought soup etc on first day, and for internet shopping (food, Calpol, dvds). Virus is relentless - keep hoping its going when it revives itself and re-attacks -but Tamiflu has kept it off our lungs - thank you NHS & Swine Flu hotlines and our GP.

Thank you - and sorry to hear about the terrible time you're having with it DamascusRose.

I held off in the end. Her temp rose a bit towards bedtime but has been normal again today. I figured that if she was feeling really bad she'd be clingy and lethargic but she was her usual sprightly self. And again today.

Thanks for opinions - very helpful.
