Anyone else in 'high 'risk' group still waiting?

3 DCs all have asthma. Last month GP advised me they were all on their list for the first lot of vaccines they got in. Have rung a few times since and the vaccine still hadn't arrived. Last time I was advised they would be ringing when its in.

It seems from here that everyone else is now being called for theirs and we still haven't heard. Has anyone else not been called yet?

I don't want to keep hassling the doctors so just wanted to find out if there are others waiting.

we only got called yesterday - 2 dcs with asthma.
hope it comes through soon. but btw, one of mine has had what was probably the swine flu and it really wasnt that bad.

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 19/11/2009 14:02

we were only called via letter at start of thisweek,

lalaa · 19/11/2009 20:45

we're still waiting. I have rung twice and was told we will hear this week. I have one dc with asthma and a dh with hereditary condition which means his immune system is shot. The thought of them both being ill is a bit overwhelming.

mrsmarzipan · 20/11/2009 12:03

I have a DD with asthma (2 1/2yrs) and am still waiting to hear even though i know others have had the letter. I asked on monday and was told she would have a letter inviting her for it within a week. If it does not show up by monday coming i will be on the phone again.
Starting to get annoyed especially as she has had all the symptoms over last weekend/early week and was told by GP it was probably a virus/ear infection or if her temp goes up again then swine flu! (i.e she had no idea).
If she does come down with it i will be very angry as the system for distributing and contacting patients clearly does not work well, we were lead to believe the vaccinations would start in october.

I got a telephone message from the GP on Monday this week and I had my SF and seasonal jabs this morning - waiting for the sore arms now!

I have to go back in 3 weeks for my second SF jab - thought it was just the one.

Not just us then. Nagged DH into phoning them yest - I am up there so often with the children I am worried I am too 'known' as it is!! Apparently it is in and they are phoning everyone in order on the list. Wasn't allowed to just book it on the phone, I suppose that would just open the floodgates for everyone to call them. Still annoying tho, 2 of mine have such terrible asthma we have nearly lost them before.

Silly thing is, they had possible swine flu in the summer but because they weren't tested, we still don't know.

Hope we all get the call soon

I phoned my doctors and they booked ds in there and then, no questions asked!
I think that my surgery seem to be waiting for patients to contact them!

mumto3boys · 25/11/2009 13:03

Little update - got the call today and they are having it after school tomorrow. phew

I have been waiting too, 35 weeks pregnant and having a section next month. Kept calling the surgery and they started to get really ratty about it. They have had the vaccine for 2 weeks and i never heard from them. I posted on here and another poster said something about her family being left off the list so i popped into the clinic and told them that time is running out and im worried etc. She checked her list and i wasn't on it! So she booked me in and i had it last night finally. I would advise you all to make sure you are on the list at your surgery just incase!

Hope you all hear something soon!

OrmIrian · 25/11/2009 13:32

Yep. Severe athsmatic but had no news. I'm not that bothered tbh. I never get flu anyway.

beautifulgirls · 25/11/2009 14:18

Yes also still waiting - called my clinic back in October when still pregnant - and also asthmatic, and somehow they decided not to let me know for the first 2 batches they gave in early November. Now just waiting on grounds of asthma and fighting to get them to include my children who have used inhalers in the past though too young to formally get an asthma diagnosis. The fact one of them has required a nebuliser on several occasions seems not to matter to the crappy receptionist. grrrrr.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 25/11/2009 14:20

DS is a super high risk and he is still waiting, actually thanks for reminding me i am going to phone my gp and harras them.

mumto3boys · 25/11/2009 17:42

I knew ours were on the list as they had checked twice for me. I phoned yesterday and was told they were booking people aged over 20 first with the doctor, then those aged under 20 were being done by the nurse.

I have no idea why this is, but am sure there is a reason.

Then got the call today and they have been booked tomorrow.

So they still got the first batch, our surgery was getting 500 doses and had their list drawn up weeks ago, just the order they were doing them in.

I should also add that my DS1 is a very mild asthmatic and has never actually had an attack and he was on the list. My DTs have very severe asthma so was more worried about them.

Seems the surgeries are following different rules if some people are being ignored? Although what's the betting they are giving out the same amount of doses to each surgery regardless of how many at risk patients they have?

Letters are only being sent out from my GP surgery this week. Depends on when the vaccine arrived, how much they've got and how they're prioritising people. There's no harm in popping in and asking at reception if you don't hear soon.

All jabbed yesterday! Not fun as they knew what to expect and 5 year old DTs both tried to leg it out the door and we have to go back right after xmas for round 2 for them. DS1 only needs 1 dose apparently.

3 sore arms this morning but all ok apart from that!
