How long are you contagious for with swine flu?

was clinally diagnosed with swine flu last tuesday. Never had a temp, just cough, runny nose and very tired. Have been out of bed since Monday and although now have slight sinus infection feel ok. Am pregnant so feel weak still but am assuming as now been 8 days am no longer contagious. Is that right? I have a 2 yr old so have to carry on as normal but worried about taking her to any playgroups etc. The NHS website says 24 hrs after fever has gone but as I never had temp not sure how long it means for me!! Anyone know?

Noone seems to know (DD had it last week and I was trying to find this out too). From what I read children are potentially infectious for 7 days, adults it's usually 5. I think the rule of thumb is once you are symptom free you're okay and one thing I read (can't remember where) suggested that once the cough was gone you were almost certainly no longer infectious. Sorry not to be more definite but I'm sure by 8 days you should be fine.

I think with anything, If you (or especially a child) is still coughing, sneezing it is still very contagious. With small children however, they tend to share saliva and snot with toys and fellow children so until there isn't any sign id stay away from playgroups etc.
More likely to be PG woman in these places too.
How far on are you and was this confirmed with a swab?

when you say clinically, were you swabbed?
