Stress + operation = smoking

(big sigh) I am very stressed at present and in a few weeks will be having keyhole surgery to remove my gall bladder (adding to the stress).

Anyway, say three days a week (thurs, fri, sat) I have taken to having a couple of glasses of rose wine, sometimes the full bottle, with a meal with my partner and then have even had a few cigarettes, probably upto five on each of the three nights - never any other time.

I said to myself that pre op I would stop the cigarettes completely but I find myself sooooooo stressed that i am finding a couple of glasses of wine and a few cigarettes once children are fast asleep in bed at night are really helping me to relax and wind down.

Obviously I am aware that I would be a lot healthier if I didn't drink this wine or smoke these cigarettes but in light of an operation coming up am I making things more dangerous by doing this or would it not make much difference in this short time space?
