...Come and be a Venus In Fake Furs (with a nod to any vegetarians, who may enjoy the odd Quorn fillet...)on our healthy eating thread, and watch yourself vanish before your very eyes, if that is your aim!

We are supporting each other to lose weight, or just eat well and get fit- but we do like a bit of a laugh along the way, so if you are interested in joining Shiney and the other regulars here and be in the gang, just drop in and post as much as you can- the thread moves fast!

All welcome- the only quiches round here are the contraband in my fridge

whoooa jaq - get you! That must have been a lovely feeling. I don't think and I am sure no one else here thinks you are a scrounger, you have hit hard times.

Bless your mum and dad Shiney, they both sound adorable.

hellsbelles · 04/11/2009 20:47

Bella - yes it is very like that.

Jaq - wow wow wow - what a lovely lovely thing. Write it down and put it somewhere so when you are feeling a bit look at it and it'll make you

hellsbelles · 04/11/2009 20:50

shiney - I love the fact she has a super special stick! How stylish! What a brave lady she is.

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 20:54

She takes no prisoners when you're ill either- I think she is a hero among mums

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 20:56

Hello all - haven't been on this thread for a couple of days and now there's too much to catch up on!

But I did see all your presents Shiney and I'm very

Lovely pics Jaq!

I am not drinking tonight and diet is going reasonably well. I'm hoping I can put the Quality Street incident behind me.

bellavita · 04/11/2009 20:58

Do you not just click on the person under chat that you want to chat to and then start to type and press enter when you want to send?

bellavita · 04/11/2009 20:59

They have got to have a whole green dot there though which means they are online.

Lizzylou · 04/11/2009 20:59

Am watching Andrew Marr soon, but wanted to clarify about why I was at the Christmas appeal thread.
A few years ago there was a thread (must be in chat as cannot find) where a MNer (they namechanged, said they'd come into some money)was offering £50 each to MNers in need of help during the Christmas period. I will never forget that person who thanked said poster and then said sometning along the lines of "Lol, now just need to find another £70 for XXX" or whatever, basically begging for more. I remember same poster saying that when they had donated some stuff to the CHristmas appeal (the next year I think?) that they were "paying it forward", because basically they knew they'd be nominated again and again. Then after not being on here all year they tried to get nominated for this years appeal.
That is why I was annoyed. Though I did wake up at 3am and come down and email Norma as I felt bad as if someone was that desperate then perhaps they should have got the money?

I dunno

BUT One thing I do know is that Jet and Jaq would NEVER have behaved so ungratefully or so grabbingly. So please do not think anyone thinks of you in that way.

As you were.

Off to watch some mind-improving documentary.

Sorry - I meant lovely story jaq and lovely pictures, jet!

bellavita · 04/11/2009 21:03

I don't remember that thread Lizzy as I wasn't on here then, but I do remember though last year that person who offered the money coming on (or it might have been earlier on this year) and saying that she would not contribute to anything at all on here as she was never thanked for giving all the money away. The person you are talking about Lizzy - does it have a boys name in the mn name?

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 21:05

Not thanked? Gosh, that's terrible!

bellavita · 04/11/2009 21:06

Lizzy - I should say the poster scrounging, do they have a boys name in their mn name..

Iggi999 · 04/11/2009 21:08

Best way to give things though is anonymously, and not to expect thanks.

BitOfFun · 04/11/2009 21:13

Oh no, I would want a little bit of boot-licking. And then perhaps for the person to start a thread all about how marvellous I am, that kind of thing...

bellavita · 04/11/2009 21:13

at BofF!

Maybe that'll be my first ever thread BOF. Oh, you'll need to give me some £ first of course.
Going to watch Waterloo Road now to make me feel better about my school

hellsbelles · 04/11/2009 21:16

Why wouldn't people thank - no wonder she was pissed off.

it's so hard to know what is true on those things and what isn't. DS upset me the other day as he said - 'those people begging for money in are only pretending'. I said to him that yes - sometimes people are (pretending) - but sometimes they aren't and it shouldn't stop us helping someone who really does need help.....but I think he must have got that from DH? Not sure. DH says not so I can't think where else he might have heard it.

It's so tricky to get the balance between helping and also not getting taken for a mug.

jetforkesandbonfires · 04/11/2009 21:17

BoF

Lizzylou · 04/11/2009 21:18

THe person who I am talking about (the one who moaned and was grabbing) yes, has a boys name at start (think and the lions).
I never saw that about the one who gave, and did always wonder who she was.
I have searched for that thread as it made me feel ill, it really did. That Lady was basically handing out £50 to whoever on there, have no idea if she was just rich anyway, had had a bonus from work or had won the lottery or something.
The ungratefulness and sense of entitlement made me v {angry] though.
Hence why when same old same old popped up, I was sceptical to say the least.
