Wisdom teeth, anyone had trouble?

I have had a tooth coming through for a few weeks and it's really sore, especially when i eat because it's making me chew into the side of my mouth. This past week i have felt like i have swollen glands on the same side and it's sore! Would i be right in thinking that it's the tooth causing it? I have not felt very well today and yesterday, sort of dizzy and nauseous but i have booked in with the dentist on friday. Anyone know anything about it??

Hi Linzoid - my wisdom teeth came in when I was 19. I had a sore throat/glands, a fever, a headache and very sore gums! I was so bad my boyf called out the Doctor. An appointment at the dentist confirmed it was my wisdom teeth comin through!

HTH.

I had terrible trouble with my wisdom teeth, the two bottom ones started coming through when I was 17 and were impacted and I was told they must be extracted and was referred to the hospital dentist.

The dentist there agreed that they wouldn't come through any further and the top ones would not even start to come through and they must come out but I chickened out of the operation and I was terrified of general anaesthetic and I'm glad I did because the bottom ones did come through more although still not completely through and the top ones came. It was really painful at times though and I had to gargle with salt water which tasted disgusting.

I had 4 taken out under general at the hospital when I was 18. 2 grew back in my late 20's (& before you all say that's impossible, the dentist confirmed it & had to take 1 out again!!)

I had no problems with my w/teeth which appeared between 18 & 20, but my DH had the same trouble as windmill and had to have them removed at the hospital. A nightmarish experience I'm told

linzoid - I had all four out at hospital aged 22. It was fine for me - not nightmarish at all. Had the op, woke up, came home straight away. Felt quite tired that day and the next, and mouth was tender, but that really was the extent of it. My cheeks were bruised, but they didn't hurt. Worst bit was, as they healed, still had big craters at the back of my mouth, which kept trapping bits of food - they filled themselves in soon enough tho'.
The dentist will probably x-ray your mouth to confirm they are wisdom teeth, and also to say whether they will grow thru OK
