sorry t'was for lifeisworthliving

for lots and lots of people banging on to them about addiction just isn't helpful..different if they are asking about addiciton or worried about it but afaik the op was asking if she could safely take benzos with opiates and got the appropriate answer
i get hot under the collar when people immediately throw an addiction blanket over any discussion about opiates or benzos as many people have positive expereinces of the drugs and they are very effectively used by many with no cold turkey effects

this isn't in anyway aimed at you what you are doing is somewhat different, you aren't telling you are discussing, asking, debating

yes you can, my gp prescribed both for me a couple of weeks ago for a trapped nerve

They were for separate things - had taken the one before for one thing and was wondering if it was ok to take the other for something else even though they would 'overlap' in my system. Thanks for your help, ladies.

yes they are okay to take together but just be aware that they can cause drowsiness,so be careful driving. If used in short courses they can be very helpful.

TimothyTigerTuppenny..taking temazepam during the day is not a recommended use...to calm you down... an anti anxiolytic would be better. Taking them day and night is a rocky road.

alypaly · 11/10/2009 14:25

forgot to add that it may affect your bowels too as codeine can cause constipation and diazepam can make your bowel more sluggish.

Oh dear so many of y'all need to check yourselves for less than civil answers. Got men on our cases 24/7 do we need to slate each other too. Love y'all sisters! xx

Hi OP! Probably too late now, but for future reference opiates and benzodiazepines can both suppress your breathing and it is best to avoid taking both together in high doses, due to the extra sedation it can cause.

Footle · 06/11/2016 10:40

Jajas, no one has mentioned here that painkillers can also cause headaches if you take them too often. Why not talk to a pharmacist ? Be honest about what you're taking and how much, and get his or her opinion on whether you have a problem.

Doc prescribed me diazepam and co codamol years ago, they stopped the pain and anxiety but I was so wasted I didn't know if it was Easter or Tuesday, they really knocked me sideways.
